Swung beats
I've noticed that a common denominator for the music (old and new) that I most enjoy is swing and syncopation where you get that lilting feel to a beat.
There's a lot of music out there that lacks these elements and, even though it can still groove, it just doesn't have that 'automatic head-nod' effect.
So post up some of your favourite grooves.

They're such great musicians! Probably the best trio we've seen since Sa-Ra. Nice one. Against the ruin of the world, there

More of a World Swing, but groovin' nonetheless.
