L.A. Reid: "Cher Lloyd Will Be A Massive Star In America"

December 13, 2011

Link

The X Factor USA judge L.A Reid has backed the Blighty's very own Cher Lloyd for huge success in America next year.

Reid, who has helped the likes of Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Mariah Carey to become huge worldwide stars, revealed on an US XF pre-show: "Listen, you need to know that [Cher Lloyd] will be a massive star in America. Watch out. Cher Lloyd, watch it."

In response to L.A's comments, the 2010 XF finalist said: "It's a bit crazy because I don't expect anyone to know who I am because I live in the UK."

Lloyd continued: "I'm from The X Factor and I came fourth. It's crazy and it gives me a lot of hope." Cher, who is planning to unleash her debut album Sticks + Stones in North America next year, also claimed she's currently unsure whether her debut UK single Swagger Jagger will be her first release Stateside. The 18-year old added: "I'm not sure yet, but I'm still recording. I'm starting to record tomorrow."

I hope not lol All I know about her is once I saw a clip of her doing a horrible cover of "Just Be Good To Me" by S.O.S. Band on the British version of X-Factor. It was terrible, yet the judges all praised her for it disbelief

and I checked out this song that the OP posted...very annoying lol

Sounds like anyone else out there who sounds like anyone else out there who's trying to sound like anyone else out there. Bring back Stacy Francis!!! THAT'S talent, but I keep forgetting...you have to have a crappy voice, nice legs, big tits, a nice ass and no vocal mastery to be a "massive star" today. It's all a bunch of blatant, discriminatory bullshit. In 1978, no one cared that Cheryl Lynn was an overweight Soul sista. In 1981, no one flinched when they "saw" the voice behind "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" and in 1984, no one cared that Tina Turner was 46 y/o. L.A. Reid doesn't impress ME at ALL. Politician. Just like the rest of 'em.

The only way she'll blow up is if they force her down our throats. I hate the songs I've heard from her so I don't anticipate much from her.

I don't either. I think she sucks. But then again, I'm not a Rihanna or Lady Gaga fan either. It's trash to me. I'll stick with the Natalie's, Gladys', Miss Patti's, Melba's, Jennifer's (both Holliday AND Hudson) and Chaka's ANY day over the shit that's out there today and touted as "R&B." It's shameful really. Happy Holi-DAZE. smile

Also, what is up with the UK media always trying to make the unknown seem relevant in America?

They said the same thing about Leona Lewis. Her hype was over after the first single.

L.A. can't even handle a full record label much less predict when some reality star is gonna blow up the U.S.

We don't believe you, you need more people. [img:$uid]http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/76.gif[/img:$uid]

With ur love was the only song on her album with a chance of charting in the U.S., but the hype is over and now so is her chances here.

Dear Lawd, this is that 'Swagger Jagger' chick?.....omg I've absolutely DESPISED everything about that song from the moment I heard it....so now I know who to blame for that hot mess. The above offering is only slightly less annoying (slightly). Fourth? omg She got that high? Jennifer Hudson only made it to number 8 on American Idol and she's actually got real talent. WTF was wrong with their ears? Plus, didn't Cassie already rock a similar hairdo not to long ago? yawn NEXT!!!

There is a reason why Cher Lloyd did NOT win in the final week of X-Factor UK 2010.

She OVERrated!

Stacy started off great, but she ended up sucking big time. Her survival song "Amazing Grace" was just awful. And she had no real chance of winning anyway.

And didn't Simon crown Leona Lewis to be the second coming of Whitney? Yeah we all know how that ended up. The winners in these types of shows almost NEVER turn into the stars they're hyped up to be. Only Kelly Clarkson has had great success after the show, and she's not even that hot honestly. And Cher Lloyd sucks ass, but then again so does Katy Perry and Beyonce and they're really popular so who knows how this chick will go over in the states.

I love her voice, she is young and she has tons of charisma. I could see her becoming a big star.

Cher was really good on X-Factor, she showed that she really is the full package as far as pop stars go:

However none of the songs on her album are nearly as crowd pleasing as her performances on the show.

The X Factor USA Premiere: L.A. Reid

Cher Lloyd Offiicially Signs With L.A. Reid's Epic label

December 19, 2011

Cher Lloyd has signed a US record deal with LA Reid's Epic label, the singer has announced.

She revealed during an interview on BBC Breakfast that she agreed to a record contract with Epic during a recent trip to the States.

"I went over to America to do some more recording and stuff like that and now I'm signed to Epic with LA Reid," Lloyd declared during the chat.

Lloyd went on to suggest that she greatly impressed X Factor USA judge Reid during the recent meetings.

"He finds me quite funny," the popstar beamed. "He said that I am very outgoing, and I say what I want and sometimes it comes out before I get to think about what's going to come out of my mouth and he likes that. He just said that I'm really fresh and he's very excited."

She added of her attempt to become a success in America: "I'm not going to run before I can walk. It's quite a big thing to try and achieve, but you never know what's going to happen."

Reid has previously praised Lloyd by predicting that she will become a superstar in the US.

Lloyd's debut album Sticks + Stones was released in November, reaching the Top 5 of the UK album chart. The LP has spawned the UK No.1 single 'Swagger Jagger' and the follow-up 'With Ur Love', which features Mike Posner.

i actually think he's right on this one... i mean look at who, at the moment, are already "massive stars." for the people that say she won't be, she most likely isn't your demographic nor mine. but the majority of younger pop fans? yea... they'll eat her music up.
