Your biggest disappointment (musically) 2011

There's been a lot of good music in 2011. But I've purchased a few albums which I totally dislike, first that comes to my mind is Tyka Nelson's - Hustler, this album is so poor, really regret to have spent 10 Euros on it, probably the worst music I bought this season. And there is Van Hunt's - What You Were Hoping For, uuuh ... I cant say this album is bad but absolutely not my cup of tea, big disappointment!

Otherwise, like in recent years, I am very much disappointed that so many great new talents received just a minimum on attention while ordinary albums of already popular Artist have been promoted to death ....

I really like Bjork, always have done. However, her 2011 release was a disappointment to me.

I'm not saying that it's a bad album, it's just that I cannot seem to get into it at all. It's just too plinky plonky, like she is trying too hard? I would really like if she would just stop all her interactive jiggerypokery, and made an album of mad beats and shit, with lyrics about shagging, Iceland, and other such Bjorkism.

totally agreed! Bjork is amazing, but Biophilia is not ... Hope for the next album she will get back to some real hooks, catching electronical beats and dreamy melodies ...

I heard the Van Hunt album...while it has some great experimentation...wasnt too catchy or memorable unfortunatley...BUT I loved the music in it.

I enjoyed her experimentations, especially with the scientific route that Biophilia has taken. The iPad app showcases this well.

Indeed, her willingness to experiment and do what she want's to do is what has always attracted me to Bjork, and the subject matter and apps to accompany the album are impressive, but i'm aching for some quirky 4 min pop tunes, it's been a while now. lol

The mess that was the Van Hunt album. Folks here were cumming out of every orifice in their body and then I listened to it and was all: eek

disbelief

No disappointments at all. You can't be disappointed when you didn't buy any.

You lucky one! Me, I spend too much money on music. My boyfriend always claims me to be a stupid fool for that but in the end he's listening more to my purchases than myself ... I understand that you're going to issue more money on sexy leatherjackets and stuff like this, that's real cool!

Beyoncé's album "4".

I was pumped for it because I was a fan of hers, but this album sucked so bad. It sounded like something some 15-year-old hipster kid would make in their basement, attempting to imitate the greats of the past without really understanding why that art was made in the first place.

And then her managing people had the nerve to whine and say that the public just wasn't sophisticated enough to get it and that it would be a classic in 10 years...while calling Beyoncé the new "King" of pop.

Um no.

I dropped my 45 of Red Beans And Rice by Hank Mance and it broke. It's a very obscure old blues record and I'm pretty sure it's impossible to find.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Ladytron's Gravity the Seducer. It has its nice moments but overall I thought it was very lacking compared to their back catalog.

pshaw! that MJB album is the ONLY one that didn't disappoint!!

Drake is weak.
Wayne....I can't with him.
Beyonce...nice but tired of the big up her husband songs.
Rihanna...too soon
I can't even really remember who dropped albums this year and that's a clue!

My biggest disappointment of 2011 was there was a lack of major releases. Besides Beyonce, there was really nothing to look forward to.

Beyonce's 4 album. I like it better now than when it came out, but still not in full. I'm not even going to purchase it like her previous two.

That's terrible, I feel sorry for you as I know how it is to loose some precious vinyl not to mention digital dementia ....
