Yeah I'm going to say, and as hard as Ive tried to listen to it, put it on continuous play for a week.

50 words for snow - Kate Bush.

Its a slow slog through long snow drifts, cold winds, elton john, and in the end you're just glad that you got home in time to shut the door and warm your hands on the embers of this disc.

It's a damn shame Wayne's "Carter IV" was twice as good as "Watch The Throne". Ye and Jay tried to do too much and not enough at the same time. Instead of esoteric bullshit they should have given us stronger beats a rhymes. Hell a real hook would've been nice.

No new Prince album.

Van Hunt's album was initially a disappointment but It grew on me, overall I,d rate it a 7/10.

They really hyped this album up to be something that, IMO, it simply was not. For me, this is Mary's weakest album. I was very disappointed. I ended up selling mine on ebay a few days after I purchased it.

Bjork and Meshell's albums weren't bad, but they weren't as satisfying as I'd hoped or expected. That said, I'm enjoying Biophilia more and more with each listen. Weather, however, is still leaving me cold except for a few tracks.

One of my favorite musicians (Bob Dylan) touring with one of my least favorites (Mark Knopfler). And with concerts being as expensive as they are, I didn't go. And then I watch sum youtube clips only to see that the Bobster was in really great shape. Should've taken the bitter with the sweet...

Otherwise, like in recent years, I am very much disappointed that so many great new talents received just a minimum on attention while ordinary albums of already popular Artist have been promoted to death ....

I heard the Van Hunt album...while it has some great experimentation...wasnt too catchy or memorable unfortunatley...BUT I loved the music in it.

Lemme get this straight...

Hunt's album of the year (IMO) wasn't catchy or memorable but you love the music?

Why?

And enfant also gets the same question...it's not your cup of tea but it's a big disappointment?

The Hunt album isn't R&B and that's why y'all didn't like it: keep it real.

His first two albums weren't totally r&b. Portions of the album were rock and i'm talking

as many as 4 songs so we weren't immune to rock but on this album he is just on some

whole different shit that i'm just not feeling. It's also obvious from a few concert reviews

i've seen the audience isn't feeling his new shit either. lol

Mayer Hawthorne's sophomore album 'How Do You Do?'----The album isn't terrible, but after his excellent debut album 'A Strange Arrangement',I guess my expectations were extremely high? This time around, the songs are decent but not outstanding. The track with Snoop Dogg is horrendous.Overall,a pleasant listen but I think the debut album is much better.

I have no problem with genre jumping but Hunt's latest was just a bore. The songs had no vitality and come off forced. A perfect example: Crossdresser. The song needs to be dirty and gritty, not polished and blah.

Anyhoo, so, I've been listening to Bjork's lastest sans all the filler. There's a killer 9 song album in there if she just edited herself better.

His first two albums utilized an R&B blueprint, dude. Don't act like the debut and

OTJF were amalgamations mostly. All of his albums subsist on R&B, except

the new one.

I wonder how many of you who claim WWYHF? as a big disappointment listen

to rock music to have a point of reference?

Do y'all listen to rock at all? If not, then yes, I can see why a Hunt album

that mostly eschews familiar R&B templates is a disappointment. If you ask

me, y'all are just some lazy, unadventurous listeners who want Hunt, who is

the type of artist you cannot pigeonhole, to consistenly churn out formulaic

music.

Wah -

My favorite artist grew up.

Wah -

My favorite artist is going through a phase.

....people act as if Van Gogh came out the uterus with his famous style already

implemented. No. He went through phases. Let Hunt be an artist and go through

the necessary changes his muse asks him to. If that means that he puts out a

Detroit rock album with Sly Stone at the helm, then let him do it. He's a gifted

and adventurous songwriter with lazy fans who want "Down Here in Hell" redux 74

and shit.

You modern music lovers are frustrating and ridiculous and lack historical perspective;

this is a reason why I could never become a recording artist who depended on fans in

order to make a living.

What the hell are you talking about? Crossdresser...wait...NOTHING on this album

is "polished" or "blah." If anything, the album's mix is slightly muddied and amateurish.

It adds to the overall aural charm of the album because it is not polished with studio

sheen.

And I don't know how you think the open pummeling of North Hollywood and the touching

sentiments of the closer are without "vitality."

I dunno...like I said, y'all want this brother to be an R&B stalwart and I think he's too

adventurous for that; and that outside of R&B, y'all really don't know what you're

talking about.

I'm not upset, kiddo. And you have the right to be disappointed when you purchase

something that you don't like. My point to you, specifically, has always been that your

reasons for being disappointed weren't so clear, for you said:

And there is Van Hunt's - What You Were Hoping For, uuuh ... I cant say this album is bad but absolutely not my cup of tea, big disappointment!

It's not bad, it's not your cup of tea, but you're disappointed? Hunh?

My point of contention in this thread has nothing to do with

whether or not one should be disappointed in Van Hunt's new album,

it's the reason why they are disappointed.

There is a difference between the two.
