The Jackson 5 Animated Series This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Jackson 5 cartoon series and Classic Media has yet to put out a DVD set on it. I know I've mentioned this before in a previous thread, but I wanna mention it again. Who here would like to see an official release of the animated show on DVD
NOTE: Couldn't find the other eps.
Then, can add the commercials they did for Post cereals as an option to watch between cartoons
And a bonus disc that contains an interview with Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon and

I don't really care about the cartoon. I'd rather The Jacksons variety show be released on DVD. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton | |

^^You can say the same thing for the cartoon. Maybe Motown wants too much money, and there probably is not of enough of an audience that would want to buy it to justify the expense of whoever owns the show. They would also have to get permission from (and pay if they ask) anyone featured in the cartoon like the brothers, Michael's estate, Berry Gordy, Diana Ross, etc. because it's their likeness. The same goes for any guest stars on the variety show. Also, who knows what condition the film reels are in. If they have to be restored, that is very expensive and takes a long time. If The Beatles cartoon has not been released, which has a more larger audience, I don't see the J5 one ever coming out. But in The Beatles case, I've heard that they weren't impressed with the animation or the show itself. So Paul, Ringo, Olivia, & Yoko most likely wouldn't approve any release. Geez there's a lot of stuff that needs to be released.
I personally love the cartoons AND the variety shows. I'd pay if they were remastered and put on DVD and/or Blu-Ray.

Actually, Universal Music (which owns Motown) and Classic Media owns the rights to the cartoon. |

I've never seen an official video of anything by The Jackson 5 or The Jacksons. I have seen a videocassette called The Jackson 5 In Mexico, but I think it's a bootleg of a TV show performance. I've seen VHS/laserdisc/DVD by Mike, Janet, & Jermaine but that's it. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Well, there are a lot of websites that have a lot Jackson 5/Jacksons DVDs on the black market. But I hope Eagle Vision and Classic Media will release the Cartoon one day. |

Main reason why either the Beatles cartoon show or the Jackson 5's ain't on DVD would be music clearance I imagine. Too much money to clear it considering how obscure the shows are. Sad but true. Music clearance sucks!
Probably the same reason for the variety shows aswell. Personally they all suck to me but it would be nice for the fans to see them.

Looks like Jackson 5 fans prayers are about to be answered
- Possible DVD Release for the 1971 Animated Rankin/Bass-Produced Series? Look for the show to come home next year, according to one historian's blogPosted by David Lambert In 1971, animation producers Rankin/Bass put together the cartoon personifications of Michael, Marlon, Jermaine, Jackie and Tito with the ABC-aired Saturday morning show the Jackson 5ive. The half-hour program ran for 23 episodes, including a kick-off episode with Motown legend Diana Ross voicing herself. The actual Jacksons weren't part of the regular voice cast, though, as their busy musical schedules prevented it.
However, it's interesting to note that the voice actor who played Michael Jackson in this show, Donald Fullilove, is still active today (unlike most of his "brothers" in this show), and has been heard recently in American Dad!, Wall-E and Up. The group's musical producer in the show's adventures (a personification of Motown founder Berry Gordy), was played by Paul Frees...a voice well known in film and TV (including the original War of the Worlds, Steve Canyon, Mister Magoo, "Boris Badenov" in Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends, "Ignatz Mouse" in Krazy Kat, "Colossus" in Colossus: The Forbin Project , "narrator" of Hardware Wars, various characters in the animated productions The Hobbit, The Return of the King, and "K.A.R.R." in Knight Rider...he had also been the original Pillsbury Doughboy!). Other on-screen characters in the cartoon included Michael's pet mice, "Ray" and "Charles", and pet snake "Rosie". Why the trip down memory lane? Well, nothing is official, and we're not even certain how accurate this is. NOT to cast doubts on the website who gets the credit for this info, or anything like that. It's just that during the past couple of years, especially as many of this sort of show come to DVD via manufacture on demand programs, and those programs often make plans to release an old show like this one, but then some sort of obstacle comes up and the title doesn't see the light of day. However, while we should take it with a grain of salt until the official studio announcement comes through (whenever that may be), we're pleased to pass along word from historian Rick Goldschmidt's "Enchanted World of Rankin/Bass" blog, posted there yesterday, that "RANKIN/BASS' THE JACKSON FIVE SHOW coming to DVD in 2012! " Our thanks to reader Phil Satterley for the heads-up! Stay tuned, of course, and we'll fill you in as further information becomes available to us.
