DRUM & BASS MIX http://soundcloud.com/djasides/get-started-a-sides-remix-mark
From the 2011 album from producer, writer, arranger, DJ, remixer and performer Mark de Clive Lowe. Though many know him for his production work and his collaborative assignments (he’s worked with people like Jill Scott and Leon Ware amongst many), he’s also recorded eight of his own albums…. and this new 14 tracker makes it nine. Renegades reflects his multi-faceted approach to his music; here there’s Soul, funk, Tech-Afrobeat and hints of Latin too. To help him fill out his ideas he’s brought in some top names. Percussion is handled by Sheila E, Pino Palladino is the bassist while Miguel Atwood-Ferguson is the string contractor. There’s also a varied cast of vocalists: Nia Andrews, Tawiah, Sandra Nkale & Omar. [Edited 12/4/11 15:58pm] Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

Mark is such a great keyboardist and producer. Thanks for posting this. Against the ruin of the world, there
is only one defense: the creative act. -- Kenneth Rexroth

Celebrating the end of 2011 and entering the new year, here is vol.4 of the CHURCH mixtape series. CHURCH is MdCL's monthly clubnite event held in LA and NYC.
The NYC edition of CHURCH is resident monthly at Drom in the East Village. Presented in collaboration with Giant Step and Revive Da Live, CHURCH NYC is the 1st Friday of the month and features guests alongside MdCL including: nia andrews, Nate Smith (Dave Holland/Betty Carter), Mark Kelley (The Roots) and more. at DROM 1/6/12 !
We're super excited for the CHURCH events to come in 2012 including the debut of CHURCH LONDON (word on that closer to the time, late Spring!).
The vol.4 mixtape features a range of artists and music - with some classic MdCL flips along the way. From a classic 1962 Duke Ellington recording to The Roots collaboration with Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, the mixtape covers the whole range and gives you a little taste of MdCL's CHURCH.
