I've listened to all three of her albums and it's nothing but pop to me. People say she's crossing over when she scores all these hits on Top 40 but is she really? Stuff like "Love Story" "You Belong With Me" and "Fifteen" is considered country-pop? Carrie Underwood (my favorite) and LeAnn Rimes are country-pop to me. 50/50, sometimes 60/40 one way or the other.

Swift is country maybe 20% of the time, if that. It's like she's putting on a front just to sell records.'

Just my two cents.

If you don't like Taylor Swift, then you have no one to blame but Garth Brooks AND Shania Twain.

And yes, Taylor Swift is country-pop. I can NEVER consider just a contemporary country anymore.

The REAL question should be, "Is Taylor Swift REALLY an ARTIST?

Taylor Swift is the girl that writes your sad teenage life stories about a boy who you either: a) like but he doesnt notice you b) hate because he dumped you for another girl and c) moaning about boys in general.

She's good at what she does (for her target audience anyways) but I just can't see her having a serious and long lasting career in the industry.

Country music wont even play "country" anymore. They avoid it like the plague. Dolly Parton released a proper country album last year and the radio statioins wouldn't even touch it.

I've always considered her as "pop" singer. I love Carrie Underwood, but she's also country/pop. In fact, most of young country artists these days do more than just country. Miranda Lambert, my other favorite "country" artist, she has a little bit of rock edge to her records/performances, which I love. So really, I don't have problems with Taylor being invited to CMA and her records being acknowledge in "country" category.

Wrong! As long as there are record label execs & CEOs that continues to have more love for their shockholders than for the real knowledgeable music fans, there will always be a music industry.

It was a gradual push though so while Garth and Shania furthered pop's influence on country, they sure as hell weren't the first. Least the type of pop-tinged country that was popular pre-Brooks/Twain still had enough grit to still be country.

The first maybe not but the first to sell truckloads. They were all over the place in the 90s. It was actually annoying.

It all began in the mid 80's when country rejected kd. lang, Dwight Yokum and Lyle Lovett.
