Is Stevie Wonder Heading to Dancing with the Stars?

Dec 2, 2011 07:06 PM ET
by Natalie Abrams

Stevie Wonder may be dancing onto your television screen — yes, dancing!

The 61-year-old "Superstition" singer appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday, where Ellen DeGeneres put him on the spot after hearing rumblings he wanted to join Dancing with the Stars.

"I'm losing weight," he replied. "When I get to where I feel like I'm going to look good enough for what I want to do, I'll do that." After DeGeneres pointed out that the singer would lose weight while on the show, Wonder replied, "I'll look good in the beginning and I'll look even better in the end."

Though Dancing with the Stars has never featured a blind celebrity, hearing impaired Oscar-winner Marlee Matlin competed and came in 7th place during Season 6.

TV Guide

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Well, in that case, I can see it happening...just as he wanted to experience driving a car and filmed it for an Oprah show. If this is the case, I applaud his balls in dancing in front of an audience. Although I wouldn't do it in his case in the same circumstances.

Here's a clip from the Ellen show. The interview starts around 4:50.

I love how everybody and their mama is all like "no Stevie no". lol But believe me if Stevie had wanted to dance back in 1983 and he was joked about, a few brothers would've wanted to beat you the fuck up. falloff

How things changed. lol
