Do you ever get obsessed with one song...

...that you have to listen to it over and over and over again?? It happens every once and awhile, but when it happens, I get stuck to the point that nothing else sounds good at the moment, as much as i try to advance to the next song. mad I just keep hitting the repeat till I wear that sucker out, then I'm really tired of it.

My song of the day...

Yeah...a few Coldplay songs. Or songs with so many layers that I have to listen a billion times just to decipher it all. Or songs that are so funky/ catchy that I can't turn them off.
Honey, stop talking and just create the music.

I do that with Janelle Monae's Cold War, except I try to ration the number of times I hit repeat because I soooo don't want to get sick of that song. It doesn't help that it's kind of short and every time it ends I'm all, "Damn, I thought we were just getting started!"

I've also been known to wear the hell out of K'Naan's Wavin' Flag (the original version):

And I see all of your creations as one perfect complex
No one less beautiful
Or more special than the next

I don't like that it catches me off guard. This "song" wasn't supposed to have this kind of effect on me...but I love the feeling. cool

I usually do not listen to the same song more than 2 times in a row, because in a world so much beautiful music, I see no reason to go in cycles, but there are some songs that I can listen to on repeat for more than 10 times in a row, because I'm an absolute fanatic of these songs , they have something magical for me

smile
Pink Floyd - High hopes
A-ha - Summer Moved On
R.E.M. - Losing My Religion
Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence
Michael Jackson - Give In To Me
Scorpions - Send Me An Angel
Evanescence - My immortal

What usually happens with me is i become obsessed with the distinctive sound of a band before i become obsessed with any particular song from that band. Not always, but it does happen quite a bit.

Some bands(or singers) have interesting, catchy, songs but they don't necessarily have a distinctive sound or voice. A lot of bands that i can't live without now are bands that have a overall 'cool sound', as oppose to classic, masterpiece songs.

Here are some songs that i've become obsessed with over the years.

Goapele-Love me Right

Killing Joke-Eighties

Rakim- When i'm Flowing

King Crimson- Epitaph

Yes. I actually enjoy being "in the zone" when listening to a well written song. I like to discover new parts or little nuances that I didn't notice before.

My garbage computer won't allow me to view videos, but yes, I get obsessed with songs often, but it's usually only when I first discover a song, hardly ever do I become obsessed with a song I've known for years.

This is a song(s) I play a lot lately, I rediscovered these songs. I remember hearing this a lot in 2008/2009 but kinda forgot it, until I found it again, and also downloaded their other stuff, and they are -both- great!
