the rrhof was created for the sole purpose of putting certain artist on the defensive and also make them question their self worth in this business. this is the second time that they rejected war and they knewn that they would get a defensive and angry reaction to their snub and getting free publicity to their stupid club.

36 years after their first album was released?
And fuck that Shitney Houston nonsense. What instruments does she play? What songs did she produce? What songs did she write? (Her biggest hits are covers.) How did she influence her fans or the music culture at large? Blech.

But yet you praise BEYAWNCE?? LOL You can STFU now LOL
lol | |

I totally get that this is a joke, but I never praised Beyonce. If you can quote one single sentence where I've ever said anything other than "I like her voice", I'll retract the previous statement. But in the entirety of that ridiculous Beyonce thread I was never pro-Beyonce. I'm just anti pointless, irrational, unbiased and unfactual hate - particularly when it gets to the point that it looks all-consuming and unhealthy to those reading it from the outside.

yo..Its 3 o clock in the morning.. just pulling your leg lol.. I normally would go back but just dont feel like it lol

so then the only way to please everyone would be to do all the inductions chronologically ONLY
so start with let's say 1955, and only after all important acts from back then are inducted (in correct order of impact on the music scene of course), they can proceed with 1956. then 1957... 1958...
wow. great concept. making this boring shit even more boring...
also that way WAR might be inducted already in around 15 or 20 years...

War = musicians Beastie Boys = not musicians
One of the things of which I am most proud is that I was part of the crowd that booed the Beastie Boys off the stage when they opened for Madonna in Houston in 1983.
Ahh, if I'd known they weren't going to quit entirely, I'd have booed louder and maybe thrown some things, too. (J/k)
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
it's all relative. the Beasties are certainly more musicians than Madonna.
so I hope you booed at her even louder back in 1983? Has anyone tried unplugging the United States and plugging it back in?

I think this is the nicest thing you ever said about Whitney

They should though... it be FAIR... if their going to give grammys away likes it ice cream cones and its easy to garner a hit they should AT LEAST give be accurate with the REAL legends if that want the Rock Hall of Shame to be taken seriously... it makes NO SENSE to NOMINATE a group that didnt get in the FIRST TIME and STILL accept a group that came almost 30 years AFTER them... I like the Beastie Boys BUT I dont think their better than WAR or should have gotten in instead of them in this selection...
You mean to tell me they got in when they were FIRST eligible and WAR didnt??? Something is not right with that... I dont mine Beastie getting in I guess but in the SAME nominations among WAR... WAR was robbed but whats new in hollywood? lol they have done and do this ALL the time...

Uh...stick around honey. I'm fissen to defend her again. Andy is a four letter word.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
She definitely deserves to be in because of strictly her major influence. She's just as influential as Elvis Presley was. He introduced white folks to music full of rhythm and changed things drastically and she introduced black folks to music with no rhythm whatsover and changed things right back to where they used to be before Elvis. Again, in a Hall of Fame honoring entertainers, FAME has to count for something. Even if she didn't influence fans or the culture at large (which I don't completely accept), she sold an earth-shattering amount of records and concert tickets.
Her Fame can't be the only reason she gets in, but it certainly can be a reason. Otherwise, call it the Hall of Accomplishment. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

All the Beastie Boys did was yell over some moron playing records on a turntable.
Madonna sang, and sang well.
As I said, booing those talentless hacks off the stage was one of the more satisfying things I've ever been a part of at a concert. I only wish I could do it again!

you are no longer ignorant. you're welcome.

nice clip. at least more groove & funk in a few seconds, than Madonna had in her entire career

I'm talking entire careers, not single events from the beginning of a career. you don't judge Madonna on the dancing she did for Patrick Hernandez, do you?
ture. back then in '83 the Beasties were not musicians. JUST LIKE MADONNA. but times have changed
oh, and Alan Freed wasn't a musician either, yet he's in the Hall of Fame. your point is moot Has anyone tried unplugging the United States and plugging it back in?

Yes they were. They've played instruments since they were in high school, at least, because that's when they first started the band.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
but they didn't play on stage yet, did they? however, I stand corrected then.
so to sum it up, the Beasties beat Madonna in every category

Yep. They played "Hardcore", the US (East Coast, really) version of punk. They opened for some of the biggest names in that genre before being inspired by the growing NYC hip-hop scene.

I was there when this was shot at Yoshi's in San Francisco. Daniel Meza brought a crew up SF and did a great job. Audio was from the soundboard other than that video efx but NO AUDIO TRICKS. TRICKS are for kids.
I consider myself an "Ordinary Man."
