Do you still support haters of your fave artist?

I really don't like to, but I HATE when I find myself really loving someone and then discovering they said something really mean. I've just gotten into Motley Crue and I realized Nikki Sixx is from there, the name sounded familiar and then I realized who it was! I feel like I don't care and still want to get into them cause the beats are good, but feel bad too cause I don't take it well at all if anyone bashes mj in a vicious way.

I don't understand the question. Are you asking MJ fans if they remain fans of other celebs, when those celebs have insulted MJ?

I would.

LOL who cares. Don't take music so seriously. Particually a band like Motley Crue. It may be abit tough to handle but don't get too obsessive over any artist, particually when its not even about the music, which it isn't in this case.

Also, you should put this in the sticky.

I think it would be an interesting topic if you asked "If certain artist bashes your favorite artist, would you change your opinion on that person?" instead of making it specifically related to MJ...you know it gets locked...while 5,296 Madonna / Janet Jackson threads are allowed....sure...

Anyway you just can't let it get to you. Are we really going to divide the entire planet into MJ fans and haters? Just like you can't support certain musicians just because they seem to love and support MJ, when you don't even like their music..

(I'm sure it's not necessarily bashing but I love Eminem and I wasn't too offended by Just Lose It.)

Alpha...why couldn't you just ask this on the sticky?

They're out there, those haters. Ain't nothin' you can do about it. Keep'em at arms length, ignore'em, and enjoy the music.

Nikki Sixx used his Freedom of Speech in his own blog to say (in his opinion) that Michael was guilty.

Technically, it is about Nikki Sixx, Gene Simmons, and any other recording artist that has "hated" on Michael.

The question is can Michael-fans still be fans of these Michael-haters after the fact.

Hmm, I guess it depends. If they give an honest opinion on MJ, which might be critical of him, I can deal with that. If they give ignorant, hateful statements and are basically speaking out of their ass, twisting things and telling lies to make up their truth, I'm done with them.

When Gene Simmons said those things about Michael last year, I wouldn't have bought a Kiss ticket, hadn't I already bought it... later on I saw that crappy MadTV shit they did on Michael many years ago and I realized that not only Simmons feels like that, also the rest of the band doeas (or they are too gutless to stand up against that), so for me, I'm done with them. I saw them 4 times in concert and I won't be going to see them again... then again, I also noticed the last time I saw them, that the song selection for their tours kinda bores me, so it made the decision easy.

I was going to buy a Kiss ticket and then the concert mess happened and I was relieved I didn't, and I was also unaware of Gene's comments and was watching his reality show. I think I made the topic what it was cause I am used to fans abandoning those other people after ignorant statements were uttered. Sometimes I think it's deserving, and other times it's overboard, so I wanted to see what mj fans and casual mj fans here thought in general about whether they want to continue supporting people or not. I'm just going to change the topic title so it's not in the sticky. Hope that helps.

Yeah I agree. They're examples of people that should just not say anything if they don't know the whole story.

Hmm...I don't really like when people make stupid and ignorant commentary in general. Which is why I don't like to get into all this stuff, because these things do tend to cloud judgment. Either way, if I like the artists' work, then I'll continue listening to it regardless. Their opinions are theirs and my opinions are mine.

Financially supporting said idiot artist(s) though? It really depends how good their work is. If I consider some mediocre artist is talking shit about a really good one then...well you know how that goes.

Sure id still like them... everyone is entitled to their own opinions... It wouldnt change the reason I liked that artist/actor in the first place... I guess it also depends on "what" was said...

If they were racist or homophobic, it may affect it, but if they are just saying they think MJ is guilty of what he was accused of, no, it wouldnt change it... lets be honest, I love MJ, but you either believe he did or didnt do what he's accused of... In some peoples eyes the "evidence" is enough for them to decide he did do those things...

It doesnt make them anymore wrong for believing he is guilty as it is for you to believe he is innocent, because nothing was "proven" either way...

~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~
That's what you think, read the transcripts and info that worked in MJ's favour if interested lol
I had to think about this last year too when Janet made misleading comments about MJ and drugs since it was contradictory information. It really hurt and MJ fans were being mean to her and attacking Janet fans, but I'm a diehard of both and was feeling so sad, but I decided to continue supporting her cause she has her own way of dealing with things and has displayed it in the past, it doesn't mean she likes him less and she is grieving in her own way too and looking at her own life and choices I'm sure, as she brought up her past spouses with drug issues.
At the end of the day, Janet is still a Jackson. So was Michael.
So...yeah.
I love his assholery, but I really was let down when I heard all about his comments since it happened and I didn't want to keep liking him, but got around to watching the show again and just shrugged it off though I don't think I would pay to see them either now.
