Lovely post, SC. I have been revisiting this song in the last month. I always mis-remember the song as coming from the Love Lives Forever album. I remember how I was floored by all of the great musicians who signed the back of the cover and participated in completing LLF after she died. Stevie's fingerprint was somehow particularly memorable for me. She was well loved and respected by so many in the industry. | |

Funny how videos as simple as this one are far more interesting than the big production ones that we see today. Unfortunately, many contemporary artists need fancy, eye-catching videos to cover up the fact that they really can't sing that well. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! The saddest thing is that she wrote this song as a farewell and sang it that way though her words were clear: "I don't wanna die".

That is one of the things that always struck me about this particular song. The line "Save me...save me..." that she sings in refrain until it fades out is just a testament to how tragic her death really was. It really brings a tear to everyone's eye when you hear it.

Yeah the video has so much conviction and emotion in it. Minnie was truly a goddess sent from Heaven up above. She left us way too soon. That's true love right there! Check me out and add me on:

She died on my Birthday (July 12) in '79. I'll NEVER forget it!! I was in the car w/my Grandfather when they announced Her passing on the radio.....

If you notice in the video, she was not using her right arm. It was immobilzed by the cancer. She must have been in alot of pain | |

Yea! Maya looks just like her mother. I know Minnie would be really proud of her. I discovered Minnie's music right when I found out she died through Teena Marie(A big fan of hers who worked with her husband) who sadly is gone now to. Minnie seem like a sweet spirit. I bet Mike had no idea what she was going through in that interview. R..I.P. Teena & Minnie  will ALWAYS think of  like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. |
