Bruce Springsteen Plans New Album, World Tour

November 20, 2011

Bruce Springsteen's official website has confirmed longstanding rumors that he will tour with the E Street Band in 2012.

A short statement says they will tour Europe from the middle of May through late July. There will also be an American tour, as well as a new album.

The complete text of the note is below:

Well, things are starting to heat up down on E Street.

A lot of you have been hearing that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be on tour in 2012. That is absolutely correct.

The European dates run from the middle of May until end of July and are being announced this week. Info on the US dates and the World tour dates will coming up shortly.

In addition, we want you to know that the music is almost done (but still untitled), we have almost settled on the release date (but not quite yet), and that we are all incredibly excited about everything that we're planning for 2012.

That's all the info we have for right now, but we'll get back to you--real soon.

I can't believe he's gonna use the E Street without Danny AND Clarence...

and I hope his new rock album is better than the average, very average Magic and WOAD

Springsteen Finishing Up New Album

December 7, 2011

After two years of downtime, Bruce Springsteen is roaring back in 2012: According to multiple sources, he is putting the finishing touches on an album that he will release in the first months of the new year. "He's mastering it right now," says Bob Seger, who spoke with Springsteen backstage at Seger's New York show this month. "He's says it's really unusual and that it's the best thing that he's done in years."

To support the album, Springsteen and the E Street Band will embark on a world tour that will extend through most of 2012, starting with a two-month U.S. arena leg in early March, sources say – including a stop in Austin for the South by Southwest music festival, where Springsteen will deliver the keynote address. The U.S. dates will be followed by a European tour of festivals and soccer stadiums that kicks off May 13th in Spain.

The question that hangs over the tour: how Springsteen plans to fill the void left by saxophone player Clarence Clemons, the spiritual heart of the E Street Band, who passed away in June.

At Clemons' funeral, Springsteen made it clear that the band would continue: "Clarence doesn't leave the E Street Band when he dies," Springsteen said. "He leaves when we die."

I was thinking the same thing, Bruce should have Clarence's sax on a pedestal on stage
