some interesting trivia about this movie....

***Marie Osmond was considered for the 'Sandy' role.It was John Travolta who suggested that Olivia Newton-John would be perfect.

***The role of 'Danny' was originally offered to Henry Winkler but he turned it down.He felt that it was too similiar to the "Fonzie" character that he was playing on 'Happy Days'.

Marie's then strict Mormon beliefs stopped her from taking it. Henry's cool but John had more star appeal so they picked the right guys in my honest opinion.

Actually Marie was only considered for the role. She was never offered the part. Producer Allen Carr met Olivia at a party and offered her the role of Sandy.

I saw Grease at the movies when I was six years old (w/ my mom and my piano instructor). I fell in love with everything - especially Olivia. It's my favorite movie.

Fun movie..but I liked "Saturday Night Fever" more. I love Stockard Channing and she still looks the same today.

I always noticed that there is not ONE black person is this movie..but I stilll like it regardless.

I also read that the woman who played Danny Zuko's unexpected dance partner passed away recently.

For those old enough to remember..1978 was a HELLUVA year for music and movies.

Dennis Greene from Sha Na Na was in the movie and sang "Tears On My Pillow" at the school dance.

I believe there was at least one couple at the school dance, too. nod

I went to the cinema with my sister to see this when I was a nipper. She smoked too many cigs and was sick on the way home (yes you could puff away in cinemas back then).

My memory of the film? The cars. Greased lightning!

Yes there was a black couple in the gym then you didnt see them anymore. Okay I look at it this way the movie takes place in the 50s before integration. So blacks and whites going to school together it existed but it still wasnt commonplace. Though I assume Rydell High was in LA somewhere.

I missed the release as I was born in 1981 but I must have been 3 or 4 when my mum sat me in front of the TV and insisted that I would love it. That was when it would literally take 4-5 years for a film to be shown on TV so it MAY have been the first or second time it was ever shown.

It's been my favourite film ever since and I always go to see it when it's re-released for an anniversary. Grease was my first proper love of music. It pre-dates MJ!

All the sexual innuendo and references in the film totally went over my head until I was about 13.

i saw it when i was 8 years old in the movie theater 15 times (this was when u paid one admission and can stay all damn day if u liked) my love 4 this movie and music still remains 2 this day. I saw the anniversary edition when it came out in the movies and loved singing out loud with others to the music

my favorite part is the hand jive and the dance john and olivia do. lol even did the song hand jive at karokke once with a friend and did the whole dance routine in the bar falloff

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Wish I was alive in 1978! It would have been all about Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Destiny, Prince, other awesome Disco songs I love from that year, Kiss, The Wiz, ABBA

!978 is my favorite year lol It's when I bought my very first 45 single (Andy Gibb's "Shadow Dancing").From that point on,I was a music fanatic....spending my allowance on records. It was such a thrilling time.Donna Summer was riding high with "Last Dance",Rick James came out with his debut album, the "Saturday Night Fever" singles were all over the charts and the radio.I'll never forget that time!

1978 - 1980 were the best years of my life. biggrin
