Karyn White Returns With “Sista, Sista” and New Album

http://blogs.centrictv.com/music/soulsessions/music-news-rb-singer-karyn-white-returns-with-sista-sista-and-new-album/

It’s been nearly 18 years since Karyn White released her third album, Make Him Do Right, marking the start of what would be an extended break from music to focus on family—namely raising her daughter, Ashley (her child with former husband, famed producer/songwriter Terry Lewis). But now, to the excitement of fans who kept hope alive for a follow-up, White has released a new single, “Sista, Sista,” and is announcing the release of a new album to be released in Spring of 2012.

White’s new CD entitled Carpe Diem, will showcase “heartfelt retro acoustic soulful flare,” and will feature a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s 1986 chart topping hit, “True Colors.”

The California native, who dominated the charts throughout the late 80’s and early 90’s, with such hits as “Superwoman,” “Secret Rendezvous,” and “Romantic,” is ready to represent and uplift all women. “I’m so much more prepared for ‘SUPERWOMAN’ as a grown woman than I was as the young woman. I’ve lived. I became a grown woman and I love women and I just want them to win!” said the singer in a recent interview.

Interesting, she was gonna release that song like six, seven years ago if I recall correctly. I guess her daughter is grown, now she can come back...

Always wondered what happened to her. She has a great voice and I hope this does well for her.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Good the see her back. I loved her first album. The second album, however, I don't know, I didn't think she had the same kind of chemistry with Jam & Lewis as she did with Babyface. And the third album was just plain awful.

I used to think that about the 2nd album, but I pulled it out about 2 or 3 years ago and rediscovered it. Now I really like it. It is a good solid album. I don't think there is one bad cut on it. My favorites are "Hooked On You" and "Beside You."

The Way I Feel About You and How I Want You are my favourites from the second album, I discovered her a few years ago, and found the second album at the Virgin megastore in NYC
