The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke to me now. I used to be so excited when artists got inducted but now I could care less. It's a popularity contest and it's not about those that really matter anymore. Besides, it's scary knowing that Britney Spears is up for induction in about 10 years!

It sounds like they don't have any real definitive criteria for their selection process outside of some level of success on one of the U.S. charts.
That being the case, I still say some of their selections would make more sense if they'd named the joint something like The American Music Hall of Fame.

MY main beef with the RRHOF fame is it continues to try and assimilate any other type of music that the organizatin wants to. The whole "umbrella" and "big tent" is BS.

Then all the foreign artists like Clapton, The Who, etc. would not be in?

Unfortunately, that's the case with all awards now. I don't know whether or not it was always like this or if I'm just recognizing it more with age. lol

Easy fix, The Popular Music Hall of Fame

But honestly, I don't believe artists are considered anyway if they don't have some U.S. chart history.

Yeah when I was 13, I thought the Hall of Fame was where all the "cool guys" got in but they let anybody in that motherfucker. lol And never puts people that deserve at least a mention for how influential they actually were. nod

I agree. But it may NEVER happen anytime soon. I strongly believe some of the past & present RRHOF committee members have a personal problem with KISS (especially with Paul & Gene) for some reason.

It's more of a disgrace that Janet Jackson is NOT in the RRHOF yet.

If the committee members changed faces, KISS might've been in a long time ago. Why that political-loving douchebag Jann Wenner's in it, I don't know...

Or at least considered for it.
