What kind of artist do you respect more?

What kind of artist do you respect more, ones that take years to create what they view as the perfect album (Kate Bush, Sade, Guns N Roses, Michael Jackson etc), or those artists who regularly release new material at a prolific pace (Prince, Tori Amos, Madonna, Neil Young etc)?

Is how prolific an artist is important to you or is it a case of quality not quantity??

Quality over quantity for sure, and I find Madonna has been in-between, not too fast and not too slow at releasing alums. But I'll tell you, I got impatient over MJ album waits, yet if Beyonce is not going away though I love her, I'm whining about that lol

The numbers has no deciding factor for me, the main thing - it is certainly a quality material. MJ released a few solo albums (bummer lol ), Prince released a lot, but in fact I really LOVE about the same amount of songs from each of them.
The Beatles are number 1 here too, for a total of 8 years of existence, they released 13 albums, most of whom are legendary and great: quantity+quality!!!!

Taking many, many years to release an album doesn't always guarantee that fans will get a "perfect" album.I know many people who were slighty disappointed with Sade's last album.I think she took over 8 years to make it?

I like to get a new album every 2-3 years. It shouldn't take over a decade (!) to write and record 13 new tracks.I was a huge fan of Lauryn Hill but I simply got tired of waiting for a new album from her.D'Angelo fans are probably going through the same thing.

Madonna is really an artist, but her tour is not the most successful ; tour earned the nominally more money, but is not the most successful among solo artists. Titanic has collected more money than Gone With the Wind, but Gone With the Wind remains the most successful film ever.
You're an adult and intelligent man (as far as I can tell from your posts), do you really not know that there is such a thing as inflation? lol

If you count for inflation, the Madonna tour is not included even in the top 10. And any successful artist tour through 10, 20 years will collect more money than her: the laws of economics and market laws. But whether it will be a de facto more successful ...? the big question.
Between the concepts of "raise more money" and "more successful" - there is a significant difference.

$ 100 million 20 years ago and $ 100 million now - a nominal amount, but payment ability is different. This is not the same thing. wink

Madonna's music is diverse in sound and she covers many topics and has pushed boundaries. To say she is not an artist reeks of ignorance.

I like Dewrede, he is a fan of the Beatles, but with his last thesis I certainly do not agree.
