My first music player was something like this
soon I graduated to something like this, putting the headphones over the microphone to record my brother's records from his stereo

The first one I got to listen to up close belonged to my Grandmother... "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I used to see this kind of stereo at a lot of people's house, my mom had one too. My grandmother still has hers. Theirs had an 8-track on it as well. But I've never seen one with a TV on it. The part in the middle was a space you stored your records. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Yeah we used to have one that was kind of like this, with no TV, and it only played records and the radio.

My Grandmother had one like that and it BUMPED! I remember playing Van Halen's 1984 on it (when I was 12) and being blown away by the bass drum sound at the beginning of Hot For Teacher.
