Ideas/advice for quality December holiday R&B, etc.

It is that time of year.

Please share your suggestions (covers of pop Christmas classics

and standards do not float my boat personally but to each his own).

I have advice and suggestions as follows:

James Brown - Soulful Christmas

Tit for Tat (Ain't No Taking Back)

Go Power At Christmas Time

Santa Claus Go Straight to the Ghetto

Santa Claus, Santa Claus

Merry Christmas, I Love You

Signs of Christmas

Elton John - Step into Christmas (yes, it is blue-eyed soulish)

The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping (ditto)

John Mellancamp - I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus (ditto)

The Whispers - Funky Christmas

New Edition - All I Want for Christmas

Luther Vandross - The Mistletoe Jam

A Kiss for Christmas

I Listen to the Bells

Freddie Jackson - Christmas Forever

Kurtis Blow - Christmas Rappin

Keith Sweat - Party Christmas

The Emotions - Black Christmas

Rufus Thomas - I'll Be Your Santa, Baby

Ronald Isely - I'm In Love

Booker T & the MGs - Silver Bells

Carla Thomas - Gee Whiz, It's Christmas

Lil Ed & the Blues Imperials - Christmas Time

B.B. King - Merry Christmas, Baby

Little Jimmy King & the Memphis Horns - Happy Christmas Tears

Albert King - Santa Claus Want Some Lovin'

Additionally, in case you have not learned of it, Snoop Dogg & friends have a relatively new

holiday music CD of all original songs available on Amazon (and probably Itunes)

and individual MP3 songs from that LP can be purchased.

Is that Luther Vandross in that album cover? I reckon yes, during his stint with his group, Luther. I bet this album has the classic, "At Christmas Time."

Good ideas.

And very easy to read.

One of my favorites has always been LaFace Family Christmas -- it's the album with TLC's Sleigh Ride. I don't even like Christmas music very much, but this one's on my playlist pretty much every year.

"Sleigh Ride" by the Ronettes music I think they do the best version of that song

The Ronettes version of "Sleigh Ride" is good.

But for a New Jack Swing use of "Sleigh Ride",

the one from Alexander O'Neal is

excellent.

It was producted by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis

as was all of the Alexander O'Neal 1988 "My Gift to You"

holiday music LP.

This LP was aggressively promoted until the late 90s

and in the 2000s seem to disapper from stores.

It was very challenging to locate until

last year when it was reissued and is now available in MP3.
