MTV NEWS: New Song: Madonna, 'Masterpiece' Getting your hands on a new Madonna ballad is kinda like squeezing your butt into your skinniest skinny jeans or bumping into Justin Bieber in the produce section at Whole Foods. Rare, but if/when it does happen, it's the best effing day of your life.
Madonna's latest creation is titled "Masterpiece" and, without sounding too obvious, it is just that. A slinky ballad led by guitars, the track touches on being in love with someone so great that they can only be compared to a famous, expensive piece of art: "If you were the Mona Lisa/You'd be hanging in the Louvre/Everyone would come to see you/You'd be impossible to move/It seems to me/That's what you are/A rare and priceless work of art." Produced by William Orbit, "Masterpiece" will serve double duty as both a track on Madonna's forthcoming album and a part of the soundtrack to Madonna's second directorial effort, "W.E."
If all this Madonna goodness still isn't enough for you stans, then how about the fact that it's now confirmed that Madge will be performing at the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI on Feb. 5! Madonna's performance had been the subject of much speculation until Sunday night when the NFL confirmed the halftime gig. Her performance will be "imagined" by Cirque du Soleil and her longtime creative director Jamie King.
A brand-new album, a collaboration with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., and a Super Bowl gig? It's going to be a very Madonna 2012, guys.
Hi guys.I think the song it's nothing to die for, still way better than Give me all your love.Anyway, I type from Italy and maybe you ignore something.Back in time, when Madonna came to Italy for the Drowned World Tour, while in her car back to the hotel, she allegedly heard on the radio something by Lucio Battisti, who was a well-known and respected singer and composer of my country, in the likes of Mina (you may have heard of her) and Adriano Celentano. I can't name the song that caught her attention, but it's been reported that she asked someone of her staff to go and buy all of his album right the next day. Who knows if this is true, but...I really think that Masterpiece was inspired by Il nostro caro Angelo (Our dear angel), which happens to be in my honest opinion, Battisti's best creation (and I'm not into him).Judge for yourself and let me know what you thinkhttp://www.youtube.c...e-AwL5Uu0A

Madonna, "Masterpiece"
After almost 30 years of dominating the industry, it's safe to say that Madonna -- Queen of Pop -- has crafted one or two masterpieces in her day. But now, she's really gone and done it... literally. Produced by William Orbit (the man behind Madge's 1998 grand reawakening, Ray of Light), "Masterpiece" is the gorgeous ballad that will serve as part of the soundtrack for M's upcoming film, "W.E."
"And I'm right by your side, like a thief in the night/I stand in front of a masterpiece," the living legend tenderly declares. With lyrics as poignant as Ray of Light's "Frozen" and gentle instrumentation like the fragile (and underrated) album track "To Have And Not To Hold," "Masterpiece" proves that the collaborative spark that began between Orbit and Madonna more than 10 years ago has yet to fade.
And although the final version has yet to leak in full (only a demo exists for now), "Masterpiece" may just be one of Madonna's best ballads in years, if not decades. Long live the Queen!
