Swing Out Sister's It's Better To Travel

I remember really enjoying this record in 1987 and 1988. Around the late 80s, music was sucking pretty bad{especially on the pop music front}. But this album was very refreshing, and a break. I remember loving this recording so much I got not only the vinyl, but the cassette and CD. My favorites off of this record are "Breakout" the first single of course and "Twilight World", I really love this track. It was released as a single and boasts an awesome B-side in "Another Lost Weekend"{used to play that B-side a lot then as well too}.

Another smoking highlight is "After Hours" which surprises one during the climax with a swinging jazzy backdrop.

Side 2 of the record is good too with songs like "Communion" and the R&B flavored "It's Not Enough". Surely one of 1987's best record.Lead singer Connie Drewery vocals are pretty effective on these songs. Swing Out Sister was nominated for a grammy for best new artist in 1987.

Is her name Corinne or Connie?? confuse

I simply ADORE Twilight World love the strings has a 70's Isaac Hayes feel in 'em. Very eary and smooth yet groovy. After Hours woulda been easily done by Sade, don't ya think??

Huh. I'll have to seek this out. I loved the song "Breakout," it did have a really fresh feel when it was released. I never heard any other songs.

I do have the album with -- oh my, is it "I'm Not the Same Girl" or "I Am the Same Girl"??? Haven't spun that in years...
.
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark

I loved that "Break Out" song. I recently bought a multiple CD set of 80's hits, and that song is on one of them. I find myself hitting the replay button so that I can listen to "Break Out" over and over again. That song has a great message and hook.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

They had another album with a very jazzy vibe to it. I don't remember the name of it though. But it is definitely worth the listen if you can find it.
