I was just thinking about this .. Daddy was really pulling the strings with the awards and nominations huh confused lol

She got 1 award for her B'day album while Matthew was still managing her so I think that whole theory has been debunked. They seem to award her really shitty albums. 4 was pretty decent.

The only thing im really bothered by is that MBDTF was snubbed from album of the year and Loud got one....I mean.... neutral

I don't know, she got a bunch of nods for I Am... lol depends I guess. shrug

u know what's going 2 be the sad thing is that all these nominations and awards won't be televised and we'll get a shit load of performances instead of what the show is supposed 2 be about ...AWARDS

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Actually, she did win one for B'day, but she received overall five nominations for that album.

But you know what was the most shocking was NOT Rihanna getting Album of the Year (it's a youth thing they're doing...), NOT that Kanye was snubbed from Album of the Year, NOT that Jill Scott didn't get a nod or Marsha didn't get a Best New Artist nod (Bon Iver has been out for YEARS) and Best R&B Album nod, but the fact that our favorite Grammy girl, Miss Beyonce, only got...

ONE NOD! falloff For some reason I think Kanye will beat her on that category. lol

[Edited 11/30/11 21:03pm]

You know what? I'm man enough to say it. I was wrong (so far) in regards to the typical Grammy blind stupor when it comes to Mrs. Carter. I, like Timmy kept looking for her name on the complete list of nominees and only found it twice. I was eek .

Now the real test is whether or not she will WIN what she's nominated for...... So, I stand corrected (so far). We'll see.

Oh and Rihanna's "Bold" being nominated instead of Kanye's "MBDTF" also had me eek . And then I remembered that's expecting too much from the academy. I guess Rihanna is their supposedly "cool points" album pick. confused Oh well...

Thats what I am pist off about...smh....

Surprisely some folks in here saying Beyonce was snubbbed. what the hell? As much as she has gotten undeserving awards over the past years??? give me a damn break.. She didnt deserved to be nominated.. I AM VERY PLEASED she wasnt nominated.. kinda hella shocked but STILL happy there were alot of BETTER r&B albums than hers but sadly they didnt get nominated!!!!! They could have nominated Jill Scott and Marsha in those R&b categories.. I swear I hate the grammys... everything is on popularity.. This is some bullshit....

NO Jill or Mint.....

I am happy for Adele... I hope she sweeps....

If yall wanna be REAL and talk about someone getting snubbed... JILL SCOTT got SNUBBED like no other... she should at least have ONE nomination... her album did go to numberone

It seems like the Grammy's are based on album sales/hit singles to me. The more album sales = the more nominations your project recieves. MBDTF is Kanye's lowest selling album so it's no surprise that it didn't get nominated.

Am I wrong on this? The nominess almost every year seems to makes it look like such.

HOLDDD UP.... EL DEBARGE got nominated, PINK!? Raphael?????

Okkk OKKKK lol

I see times are changingggg lol

R.Kellys love letter got a nod...

Some of these have been pleasing... JILL SCOTT should have gotten some nods though Im really upset with that.... Marsha should have gotten more... and Adele should have way more nods than Kanye.... the ONLY kanye song Ive heard was that mediocre Otis which is blah....

But overalll its good to see a more variety this year... Im still scratching my head as to why they didnt give Beyonce any nods like they usually do...(not that she deserves any like she usually doesnt) but they could have easily gave her the show shabang if they wanted to.... they must have a new commitee of people for THIS decade... somebody said we not giving this chile no more she has to earned it LOL

Well surely the major labels have a hand in this event, they profit from it.

All of it is not soley based on album sales.. because their have been artists in the past who have not sold alot but still get alot of nods ex. Beyonce and Rihanna.

I think radio airplay, popularity and sales to an extent count... I am not sure if their counting album sales or single sales.... but one thing is for sure... the album quality is not being taken into consideration AT ALL.

At the end of the day, the grammys are going to nominate and give awards to who THEY WANT to win... sad but thats how it is... politricks...

Yo... Mint Condition finally got nominated for a Grammy.

Kelly Price's "Not My Daddy" which features Stokley of Mint Condition, was nominated for 2 awards

"Best R&B Performance" & "Best R&B Song"

Mint also produced & played the instruments on this song.

"21" -- Adele
"Wasting Light" -- Foo Fighters
"Born This Way" -- Lady Gaga
"Doo-Wops & Hooligans" -- Bruno Mars
"Loud" -- Rihanna

Two major examples of why the Grammys are open to ridicule.

GTFO, how are people actually shocked by the Grammy oversights. Some people on twitter are actually shocked that Selena Gomez didn't get an album of the year nod. Use your head, it doesn't take much imagination to know how the Grammy voters think, and the Grammy voters don't give a fuck about Miguel. He is neither popular nor particulalry crticially accalimed therefor they have no use for him on their program.

I'm really shocked at Beyonce's low tally, I thought 4 is the type of album the grammys would adore.

I think the folks on the Grammy Committee have finally awakened from their drunken stoopers and realized that Beyonce is too close beating out Aretha's record.

I actually enjoy Miguel, and I think Sure Thing shoulda at least got a Best R&B Performance nod. I really want Eric Benet to win for Sometimes I Cry, that's my ish! I also think Motivation should win. Wiz Khalifa??? JOKE!!

"21" -- Adele

There really is no competition for "Album of The Year" this year. Releases like this do not happen very often. There have been years when an album like this gets snubbed, not this year.
