Yep. I think tge point is that when he gets released he shouldn't have the ability to make any money from publicity that may come his way. Any restitution order will make sure of that.

N I would be fine with that, but 100,000,000 is such a large amount that Murray has no other choice but to do a book/ talk show and whatever else to even put a dent in the fine. The fine should be atleast practicial for Murray to be able to pay it off and still atleast be able to afford food, shelter and clothing. Granted this is something that Stans dont want to see but it should be fair.
Though the fine wont be heard till January in another portion of this trial.

yeah that's what the defense team said about that amount but another hearing will be held in january about this man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Fellow orgers, how much are you willing to bet that Conrad will NOT served the entire 4 years max in prison?
I still have a bad feeling that THIS dude might get parole in 2 years for good behavior.

The ruling will not bring Michael back. But it will finally make people think real hard about the so many evils within the entertainment industry. Doctors being a bunch of greedy drug dealers with MDs & PhDs is definitely one of those evils.

I liked MJ...but it was his own weakness that he could not control and the circle around him that let the enabler Conrad Murray get to him....sadly he died because of it.... But when are people going to realize that MJ had a MAJOR drug problem he could not shake...
all these people say they all want "justice"...he was tried...convicted...and will go to jail... what more do they want??
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
did you feel this way when the civil jury assessed that $33 million on o.j. simpson? i'm guessing the thought never entered your mind. like every one else, you were likely cheering the fact that justice was "finally" served.
was o.j. ever going to be able to pay the goldmans and browns? no. did he even actually pay them? no, not really. but there is a principle involved here that you seem to be oh so willing to overlook: this is not about MURRAY, it's about mj and his children in particular and what they've lost. as far as i know, the judge is not a 'stan'.
restitution is based on the legitimate losses incurred, including what the deceased was capable of generating in income during his lifetime, which is why the judge has has asked the pros for more info about how they arrived at that figure. it's perfectly lawful and FAIR. everyone is supposed to be equal under the law, so why should the fact that mj was a wealthy man count against him insofar as murray's ability to pay is concerned? if mj was worth $100million then so be it.
you're sooooo 'concerned' about poor conrad murray, that he'll be living on the street in a cardboard box, are you? not only is your sentiment misplaced, it's not even realistic. even in bankruptcy you're allowed to maintain certain assets and a standard of living. murray won't be living on the street, any more than o.j. was, so you can rest easy.
finally, who would fucking give murray a talk show? or front him the money for a book? that so-called documentary was barely watched, and like the time o.j. tried to market his book, murray's would be shut down due to the public outcry, too. you act as though this man would be welcomed in the public like some sort of hero. he might have to make some choices as to how to earn money, but having talk show/book deal is not one of those choices.

Like the Judge I always wondered why Murray recorded Jackson in such a drugged up state, that never made sense to me. Was he trying to Blackmail MJ? MJ had deep problems there is no doubt about that. And if it weren't Murray adminstrating him with drugs it would have probably been another doctor, however has a Doctor you are alway going to be held to a higher level of responsiblity. and therefore Murray should have at least invested in some decent equipment whilst putting MJ under the influence of propofol. I think it is just a sad situation for everyone involved.

I think he is going to serve the max and do some time for this...you can bet on it...his being made into an example and is associated with the death of Michael Jackson... Oh yea he is going to serve ALL those years
Did you hear the judge today? I thought I was in church... preach on pastor!!!! [Edited 11/29/11 20:48pm]

did you listen to the judge's entire speech, because that is exactly what he said. he said the tape was an insurance policy, that he had no doubt that murray had plans to sell it to the media. i, and many others on this board said the same thing weeks ago. this 'doctor' had asked for $5 million for his 'services'. although he settled for less from mj directly, he could have gotten something for that tape or blackmailed mj for money down the road to keep it secret. in his police interview and in that doc, he showed nothing but the utmost contempt for mj, so i am convinced the judge was ab-so-lute-ly correct.

I'll leave it up to other fellow conspiracy researchers to answer that one. I can't go there today, believe me.

I heard what the judge said. But the American Justice System has too many flaws for me to be 100% convince that Conrad will stay lock-up for the entire 4 years.
If I'm wrong, then that is great news. Otherwise, I still have my doubts and for good reasons.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I didn't even have to watch what the judge said to determine why Murray taped him. It's real simple.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Well, I am glad that justice was served and he was served the whole 4 years. I do not know if The Jacksons will be persuing a civil case against him, but all in all, I still find it all to be bittersweet. Even though some people here and elsewhere lacked sense, the jury and judge did not.
If Conrad or anyone else truly thought that he was going to be found anything other than guilty...welll... =/

yep. i mean, what other reason could there have been? none, just none.

The only problem he had was a prejudicing world condemning and accusing him twice of child molestation and thus shattering an innocent man's life. Everything else could have been dealt with.

Dr. Murray's actions were irresponsible, illegal and downright disgraceful.
Throughout the trial, he's shown himself to be nothing more than an arrogant SOB. He's shown no remorse or sympathy. Even going as far as to say MJ betrayed him when HE was the one pumping him full of Propofol almost every night for months which is what killed him in the end. If someone has sleeping issues as MJ did and was relying on drugs or medication to go to sleep, especially replying on something as dangerous as Propofol, why continue to supply them with this? As a Doctor you are held to a HIGHER standard. That's just the way it is. Almost every single Doctor or Health professional that took the stand during the trial all said they were appalled by Murray's actions and could not believe any Doctor would give someone Propofol to go to bed every night.
Every single one of them said that they had never heard of ANY Doctor giving a patient Propofol to go to bed every night or anyone using it inside of a home.
Not only that but they were also outraged by his overall conduct. I.e. failing to call 911 in a timely manner, not having proper equipment monitoring MJ,etc..
He failed his patient in EVERY WAY. There's no excuse for any of this.
Now I believe Murray claimed he was trying to ween MJ off the Propofol, but once again this was proven to be a lie during the trial based on the records produced during the trial which showed that Murray had ordered large amounts of Propofol in the last two months or so of MJ's life and had no intention of weening him off at all.
Murray didn't give a damn. He was all about the $$$.
That documentary he did lowered my opinion of him even more. I thought he was careless and greedy, but I didn't think he was a monster until I saw that documentary he did on NBC. He had the nerve to talk shit about MJ and try to make himself out to be the victim. This documentary was done not too long after MJ passed, so that shows you the kind of person Murray is.
Murray kept saying MJ was a good friend of his. No he wasn't. You were not a Friend of his nor did you care about like you claimed.
Murray is an egotistical, unfeeling, piece of crap.
Nothing will bring MJ back, but I am glad he got the four years. At least some justice was served here. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

I just got around to watching the sentencing...like I said before, this judge ain't no slouch. He gave a very detailed account of why he threw the book at Murray and I doubt he will be overturned on appeal. Pity that he's not able to make Murray do the whole 4 yrs behind bars.
And for the record, he has not ordered 100 million in restitution yet...a hearing is set in Jan. to determine the amount because the judge says he needs a lot more detail to determine the amount to be paid.
I'm surprised that people haven't said more about that bizarre documentary. Especially the weird part where Murray claims to have been visited by the Holy Spirit and told that he would be taken care of,
I wonder if this alleged "visit" occurred before or after he left the strip club??? Hmmm.
The documentary even shows how incompetent and uncoordinated his defense team was. Between their lack of skill and Murray's state of denial the whole thing is a hot mess.
I hope that other "Hollywood" docs get the message loud and clear.

^ I doubt all of them would but I do think a good portion are certainly re-thinking their options.
"If it happened to Conrad, it could happen to me" is probably what some money-whoring "doctors" are thinking now when treating celebs and I'm sure celebs in turn are thinking they could've been in Michael's predicament: "if it happened to Michael, it could happen to me so lemme be careful..."
It's not a shock he'd be out of prison after two years but it was either that or probation so I'm glad it was the 4 years even if he does get out on parole in 2 years for "good behavior". I'm not shocked about that part at all. It's almost a guarantee he'd be released within two years. Least he's in a cell and he won't be looked on as any respectful doctor after this. Like Kelly Osbourne said, he'll be forever known as "the man who killed Michael Jackson". Not a good record.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Agreed. At any rate, jail could be the safest place for Murray right about now with plenty of time to reflect on his predicament. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Naw the majority of doctors doing this are like Klein who know how to cover their tracks. Murray got nailed cause hes was an amateur.
As with the 2 years, he should be out in maybe 2 months and I think once the hubbub dies down he will be. If this was bout a non celebrity Murray would have gotten prohibition off the bat. If Murray does have to serve 2 years in county it really goes to show how unjust the system is. If Murray had been convicted of involuntary manslaughter of George Jackson he would have walked. Everyone should be equal in the eyes of justice. Thats why shes blind.
