Roger Troutman speaks to Donnie Simpson about the talkbox in 1987

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

^^In one of the Original 7ven interviews, Jesse said that Larry pulled out a gun on him, Morris, & Jerome.

It's here. I think it's about halfway through the video. Jesse starts talking about a tour The Time did with Zapp in the early 1980's.

Time was not on Roger's side, and us getting tired of "that sound" (...as Donnie suggested might happen) never came to be. May Roger be resting peacefully.

It's around the 15 minute mark when they start talking about it. Damn that was wrong and they was laughing their asses off too. But I don't think they meant it like that though. But it was funny.

I do too because it still makes no sense what happened. Even all these years later. Some major details it seems to me have been left out...but SOMEBODY does know what happened and what was going on either between the brothers or whatever Larry was going through that escalated.

I never felt like it was anything more than a matter of pure jealousy. Coupled with the fact that Larry's heart & mind just weren't "right" from the beginning, I think he just felt that Roger was getting too much credit for the success of Zapp as the charismatic front man, and was probably on some "you're nothing without me" type shit. As brothers, I always felt it was just a crime of passion, particularly in the way Larry shot Roger first, then turned around and took his own life. There Roger was; in the studio working his ass off for another hit and determined to blow-up once again (...with or without Larry), and there Larry was lurking in the shadows; probably feeling like a giant slice of Shit Cake. My feeling has always been that Larry probably felt like if he wasn't going to be equally recognized for his contribution to Roger's success, then he wasn't about to let Roger continue on without him. Twisted?: Yes! Certainly a sad and tragic loss of two very creative & talented souls. As much as I hate what Larry did, I somehow hope there's room in the universe for him to have found forgiveness, and that the two of them may be resting peacefully in the spirit of brotherly love, after all.

Yeah, instead of killing his more successful brother, Larry should have taken a page from the Catfish/Bootsy playbook (two funky brothers that I'm certain the Troutman's were more than familiar with).

Really sad how Roger died-every time I hear Tpain it makes me sick cuz he really has no talent and folks think he does. Zapp's Doo Wat Ditty was the first record. I ever played over and over again.

Probably true. There was a guy that played 4 one of Bulls Championship teams named Bison Dele (original name was Brian Williams). He brother did something similiar. I was writing a movie script about this but never got around 2 finishing it.
