Best albums ever?

There's a lot of "best this..." "best that..." questions here, but I haven't seen this one yet so I'd like to start it. Not just to list my own, but also to get some advice as to what else to listen to. But please do me a favor! Only one album per artist!
Anywho, here's mine:

Introducing the Hardline according to Terence Trent d'Arby
Lovesexy- Prince
Stand- Sly and the Family Stone
What's Going on- Marvin Gaye
Sticky Fingers- The Rolling Stones
Don't Give up on Me- Solomon Burke
Highway 61 Revisited- Bob Dylan
Clandestino- Manu Chao
Californication- Red Hot Chili Peppers
Kind of Blue- Miles Davis

Bobby, these kind of threads are started often in here, but they tend to sink down the list quickly.

Nice, diverse list by the way.

That was a request, not a demand.
And of course there is a difference between "best" and "favorite". An artist whovis commonly regarded as good or influential doesn't have to be a personal favorite. For me Nirvana is a good example of this. I'm sure they inspired a lot of grunge bands but that just isn't my thing.
But one of the reasons I started listening to Dylan was that he has such a huge reputation as a major influence on pop music that I wanted to hear it for myself. So this a case where "commonly regarded as a classic" and personal favorite go together. music

The same with Nirvana.
Never liked this group (though I'm a rock-oriented girl), so their albums are not included even in my personal top 100.
But I have included Nirvana - Nevermind in the top 10 best albums in history, because this album is very successful and popular, it just changed the rules in rock music at that time. It is impossible to ignore this fact.

Yes, the facts - objective, opinions - subjective.
But when we make a list of "best" albums, we rely on some relatively objective parameters (sales, influence, popularity worldwide, etc.), when we draw up a list of "favorite" albums - the only criteria - taste.
I think that lists of favorite and best albums will be slightly different for each user. wink
