The Roots Perform Fishbone's "Lying Ass Bitch" For Michelle Bachman

NEW YORK -- Jimmy Fallon's house band The Roots appear not to be fans of Republican presidential contender Michele Bachmann.

As Bachmann strode on to the stage for an appearance on Fallon's "Late Night" early Tuesday, the show's band played a snippet of a Fishbone song called "Lyin' Ass Bitch."

The song begins with a distinctive "la la la la la la la la la" refrain - the only words audible before Bachmann, smiling and waving to the audience, sat down. The song itself, about a relationship gone wrong, isn't political.

Glad I wasnt the only one who noticed that!!!!!

I found it funny that "Lyin' Ass Bitch" was the song used(It FITTED PERFECTLY). And that if I heard correctly there was not one single applause for her when she walked out.

That's so funny. I watched the show, but didn't recognize the song they were playing. I did however notice that Michelle Bachman was the first guest I've ever noticed to walk out there on stage and sit down WITHOUT acknowledging The Roots. Good for that Bitch (...as if she's got a snowball's shot in Hell of becoming President, smdh). It probably went right over her head (...I know it went over mine, lol).

I think they're notorious for playing music jabs for guests during their entrances. They played "Pokerface" for Joan Rivers and Beck's "Loser" for Heidi & Spencer Pratt.

The funny thing is how the net went up in arms about this and they didn't even mouth the lyrics.

lol I love it! Way to go guys! lol What's funny is how the average person in America probably never heard of the song. Don't remember Fishbone, much less knew the lyrics to the song.

Sidenote: I love how Prince sampled it in "Billie Jack Bitch" too!

The entire show was mocking her. Like when Jimmy showed her a picture of him in drag as her and asked for her opinion (as her husband is a huge homophobe). Even the word game Jimmy played with her was designed to throw her off. She probably still has no idea how foolish they were making her appear that night. I don't think it did her any service going on that show, but she probably thought she was expanding her audience, going for the "young vote", lol.

That didn't take long:

Feeling pressure from NBC and the Right Wing, Fallon tweeted a subsequent apology to psycho beyotch Bachmann. Wimp!

You knew that was coming. I just hope ? and the boys don't lose the gig over this. You know they will want their heads for this. I read that ?uestlove was grounded for a week.

It sure would've been nice to see this same self-righteous crowd outraged by that Nascar crowd this weekend. Oh... I forgot, that was different. That was toward a black, fat, ugly, democratic woman, who happens to be uppity because her husband's the president of the united states. The nerve of her going to Nascar. Don't she knows that they didn't vote for her husband? Didn't she know that that wasn't her crowd? She should've known better, (serves her right).

Oh and if that was former first lady Laura Bush, shit would have hit the fan immediately. Hell, the feds would've been trying to find the actual people that booed and have them arrested. Seriously.

What angered me the most about the treatment of the First Lady at the NASCAR even was the "uppity" remark by Limbaugh.

Bill Clinton would be mad as hell if that had been Hillary, but President Obama, the punching bag in chief, and his Communications Office always stand by passively while the Right Wing shits all over his wife without so much as a single word.

I'm still waiting for him to grow a pair.

No joking there: he's under fire and did what he had to do save face and keep his nightly gig. Questlove and the Roots be damned.

Identity, this is the first time I've seen you irritated lol

I don't know why they bothered in the first place when they knew that an apology will be the end of this whole episode. They could've saved face in the beginning and picked their targets wisely. Oh well.

Questlove crossed a line and should be suspended. There's a certain level of decorum and respect for anyone running for President of the United States and while many Republicans have crossed that line with our current sitting president, you never stoop to their level.

Not to excuse ?uestlove from his bad business decision, but WTF ever happen to Freedom Of Speech? rolleyes

If it's OK for Ted Nugent AND Hank Williams Jr. to have songs dissing left-wingers and never apologize for it (other than saying that it's "taken out of context"), then it should be OK for ?uestion to diss right-wingers.

They didn't even mouth the words, for god's sake lol thats whats so humorous about it, these dumb ass republicans could've turned the table if they took it with a sense of humor instead of brawling about it - even though they were guilty of far more blatant bullying tactics.

I love it when they act brand new.

Since she's a representative from Minnesota, they should've picked a Prince song. My vote goes to Darling Nikki. evillol

Exactly. This was really disrespectful behavior and incredibly low brow of the Roots. I am no fan of Bachman, but this was not funny, it was immature and cruel. And I bet, if someone did this to a liberal candidate I bet they would lose their job. Can you imagine the outrage that this would have caused had Hillary Clinton strolled onto a late night show?

The Nascar behavior is not equivalent. Behavior of a large public crowd can not be controlled. You can control the behavior of your staff at work.

For the liberals who find this funny/ok, be careful what you sanction. When it comes back the other way, you won't have any leg to stand on to be outraged.

Whatever... I could care less about left or right. I think it's awesome that Fishbone is getting lots of free publicity for a song they wrote a qurter of a century ago!!! While the movie about them is making the rounds in select theatres no less.

I hear now that Bachmann wants an apology from NBC. Wonder how far she's going to try to take this. Thing is that (at least I think) if ?uest hadn't tweeted ABOUT what he was going to play, a lot of people may not have even noticed. I had never heard of the song and I'm sure I'm not alone. I know he didn't say the name of it or anything, but that made people curious. In any case....I love it!

She got it already. ? comes off like a huge douche for this. Your right, if he just laid low and let the stunt run its natural course, it wouldn't have been that big of an issue.
