I'm not seeing this being talked about but its 14 years today we lost the LAST Rock Star

Michael Hutchence at age 37 died this day November 22, 1997. The news came through on a saturday, i remember thinking WHAT no way, i just saw them in NYC performing, the new cd is great and they are on tour. ANd then it was a dismissal as a suicide, which was not the case, though Michael suffered from depression and also a brain injury in 1992 that really was his downfall to his moods and depression, Michael was not someone who would do this, his mood that night with his father no way showed it, hours earlier Michael was on TV doing a video rehearsel for the tour. The death though ruled suicide, was simply a sex act gone wrong, an experiment, and Michael would not be the last to die this way. BUT not to focus on that, lets focus on the LAST ROCK STAR, one of the greatest frontman ever, Michael could capture a crowd of 100,000 as if it were an intimate club, the reason, Michael had vision problems and couldnt really see past 30 feet then everything was blurry, so he really was focusing to see.

Don't Change is INXS's best by far, the band had so many great tracks but this sums them up better than ever, the energy, the live show, MISS U MICHAEL!

Michael Hutchence had a mesmerizing persona, a strong singing voice and come-hither charm, but I think Axl Rose is the last remaining rock star.

I dig Axl but he has become to cartoonish and a recluse, Michael really wouldnt have let himself get old, i think rock stars, true ones 100% basically dont live to let you see them get old. though Mick Jagger may be that exception.

Love him/INXS. For me the band died when he did. Still love the old music of course.

His death gets ignored like nobody's business, I didn't know he was that young when he died. What's more sad is that the mother of his children is also dead, Bob Geldoff is their parent - random fact I don't know why I know it, just thought I'd share - in the eyes of the law. With Listen Like Thieves to KICK , that was their highest peak. I don't have anything by them in my collection but I wouldn't mind buying those two albums I mentioned.

In the tradition of the fame the fast lane and the sex and excess and the ability to do that, no one is out there doing that Rock Stars are very very elite because they often die young from their excess, Iggy to me was slightly a rock star in his day, Axl Rose is a recluse when he could have been a rock star but he is more like a spoof of himself now to me.

He just had one child she is 15 now. Even sadder was how his mother and sister fought him and even sued the band for money they made!

You know what sucks though? How Michael seems to be virtually forgotten about. His contributions to INXS. I'll be surprised if any musician today knows who the hell INXS are. They were great forerunners for new wave music especially in Australia. Then they turned it to add rock and funk elements and they briefly blew up. I actually think, besides Terence Trent D'Arby and George Michael, that Michael Hutchence had me at "I need you tonight batting eyes " That and that video... whew He knew how to shake that ass lmao one of the great frontmen of his time.

Maybe he didn't headline the big arenas or sell albums as well as Michael/INXS did but Iggy still performs like a bad-ass at 64. nod Axl had a chance to be a great rock star but he fell out real quick. neutral

It's a shame because INXS would have had a pretty strong comeback. I'm sure U2 would've taken them on the road if the crowds grew smaller.

There's still a lot of rock stars & living legendary frontmen out there, and there will be more - keep in mind it takes years for anyone to prove themselves and develop a fanbase.
