I have to disagree with you I think the applause you heard for Janet during the montage was actual applause she received during the 1987 telecast. I remember during that performance the audience was cheering for her that year it was her first live performance on that show.

The whole Divas montage you cant take seriously but they could've at least included Britney Spears.

When I clicked on this thread, I realized they didn't include Britney. I know I rag on her, but they should have included Stronger from 10 years ago.

I used to think the miss-janet site was cool and eventually the attitudes there led to sticking with other artists instead and though I still loved janet, it was the tail end of all for you anyways and if you were a fan who got a bit critical, you were crucified for it. I almost felt like I wasn't a fan anymore for a few years and Damita Jo wasn't all that at first listen so everything changed for a bit.

what really got to me was after the dust settled on TVR, I had the temerity to question if Janet was bullshitting about the depression concept that she kept talking about at the time, when her only actual stated reason for it was when she told Oprah that a teacher yelled at her when she was 6 or something. even Oprah, the biggest suck-ass of an entertainment-interviewer (after Larry King, if he can bother to find out who he's interviewing), had to kind of roll her eyes and ask if she was being real. oh god, the fucking knives came out then.

and on the other hand, if you posed it as buying into her depression and questioning in 1997 or 1998 whether her depression had something to do with the state of her relationship with Rene, since she'd stated during the previous album that so much of the romance and sexuality was brought about and inspired by her relationship with him.... oh shit, they were out for blood. turns out a year later, they were kaput. and in court.

they really are deluded. they buy the PR bullshit hook line and sinker like no other fanbase, because Janet is supposedly so pure and innocent and genuine, etc.

Oh I know and I LOVE Janet but if their is criticism or a negative opinion I have then I should be able to express that without getting bashed after all I wouldnt take the time to sign up to a Janet forum if I wasnt a fan...

Just like for example with the whole Tina and Janet fiasco and the real reason why they creatively seperated. Janet admited on Oprah to not revealing to Tina about her then finance of cheating on her.. some fans said that wasnt cool and got painfully bashed for it. Fans were saying really mean things toward Tina. To be honest, I would have been really hurt as well if I was Tina... you have a friend smiling in your face, laughing with you and they know your man is cheating and their not saying anything. At the time they were best friends so why wouldnt she be hurt by that?

I think Michael stans and Janet stans are equal in their level of craziness with Beyonce's not far away, and then we have the "monsters". To me, that's how I'll list them. The current two stars' fans are eclipsing the other two though.

hahaha mjscarousal strikes again with the gut-busting comments yeah i think us mj fans are a bit wacky but hey, it will be another 500 years before this earth has another person with that much talent rolled into one (same with prince)....

I've heard so many people say rock and metal fans act so different at concerts and everything, it's a whole different culture.

I like reading the interesting postings about janet and michael here. I did find a lot of her fans annoying ages ago, but don't come across those types anymore today, maybe cause they've matured and aren't as young as the current fanbase on those sites today. They seem friendly and mellow, but I think we get really sensitive when she doesn't get enough credit, you know? I've been guilty of that in the past when others were just copying everything of hers. And I think people who truly appreciate music should be allowed to criticize it, I can't do that with janet fans if there are songs I really think are crap, especially on 20 YO and some of Damita Jo. And though she is one of the best dancers, I feel like they don't compare her to her peers of the 80's enough, and it's just 90's, or they'd see that some artists of her time danced better at times or sounded better at times though she has the package and has had long term success and impact.

I don't think the depression stuff was bullshit although I now know that Janet often repeats herself in interviews and keeps saying the same thing, so I could see how it comes off like that. And of course something in class can have an affect on you or other childhood experiences, but I remember the headline not going away for sometime and other things she talked about not being publicized like "the one incident that she won't go into as a kid" which she told VIBE, whatever that was. And why wouldn't she become depressed given all her circumstances and not being able to have a normal life, though different to michael's? If you know her life story and even how she felt awful during RN and janet. as she talked about in her book and her yo yo dieting, I'm sure that had an impact on her too. And though I think she is genuine about a lot of things she does with her life, she's also a human being and these people forget that. I have to side with Tina about that story though it's unfortunate Janet was caught in the middle, I would be pissed as hell too. She also lied about marriage, I thought pure people don't lie I watched an interview from the 90's and caught her lying in it! Her family had no involvement in her music ever, hello Marlon Jackson! She couldn't fool the diehard fans heheh nice one j! But it makes me laugh too, it doesn't mean I love her less like these people want you to feel.

I think Mariah Carey fans are the worst ones ever, they bash every artist and if you say you like them, you are not a Mariah fan anymore and they can troll you or hit the ban button on you. I'm a victim of a lamb stampede, this is a true story
