Following a performance in Miami this week, the Black Eyed Peas will embark on an indefinite hiatus.

The group is quick to state that their time apart is merely a "break," and not a "break-up," as Fergie, will.i.am, Apl.de.ap and Taboo also will appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show the same day to discuss their plans.

"We always have two cycles of records and then we take a break," will.i.am explains. "And then two cycles of records and then a break. When we take breaks you know, we work on side projects and get our personal stuff in order then come back and make beautiful music. We think beautiful music."

The musician and record producer is currently working on his fourth solo album, titled #willpower, due out in 2012. will.i.am. revealed the album's lead single, "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)" during the American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 20. Fergie, meanwhile, plans to start a family with husband Josh Duhamel.

"Definitely," she says regarding a potential pregnancy. "I'm on baby bump watch. It's really fun. It's when the paparazzi go right into your stomach."

"But yeah, that's one of the things that we want to do," she continued. "I've just been touring since 2003 and like anything things get monotonous and your doing the same thing every night. I'd like to go days without wearing make-up and watching my football games. Doing my footwear collection and my fragrances...Just going where the day takes me."

Apl.de.ap will use the time apart to focus on his duties as ambassador for education in the Philippines, Reuters reports.

Taboo, who released an autobiography in February, will likely spend time with his family. The rapper and wife Jaymie Dizon welcomed their second child, Journey, in April, joining two-year-old Jimmy and 18-year-old Joshua, his son from a previous marriage.

The group is currenlty promoting their dance video game, The Black Eyed Peas Experience.

They discovered they can kill hip-hop faster as 4 solo acts.

^ everyone's happy but WillIAm's still releasing music... wouldn't that be like Beyonce vowing to never release another CD again but heading back into the studio with DC?

Doesn't necessarily mean he's gonna dominate stuff solo-wise as he did with BEP. His last solo release tanked. But who knows? I just get sick of that man and that group...

I'm curious to how Will is gonna make the argument that he is T.H.E. "The Hardest Ever"

I think they all just qualified for AARP and that's it, LOL...I think they're a lot older than what they say they are lol

I really enjoyed their 2008 album 'The E.N.D.' it's a shame that they're taking a hiatus right when I started to like them

They lost me after Bridging the Gap anyway, Ever since Fergie came on board, I could dance to them, but the writing never moved my needle. They went from potential Native Tongue successors to, well...

I remember Esthero in concert talking about how Apl and Taboo were going bananas having to 'perform' My Humps night after night, lol. Gave me more respect for them at the time...

I'm surprised that Fergie is in no hurry to make a new album.Her last album was a major success.

there it is. I remember the first album with Fergie and the song they did with

Justin Timberlake. I was like WTF. I was confused as to how they got a female

in the group. I don't hate them for it because it made them more popular(crossover)

than they would have ever become if they stayed original. They would have just

gained more respect from hip hop traditionalists especially ATCQ fans like myself.

I read somewhere that Ashanti was in talks to be the new lead singer, replacing Fergie.

A good 50 years will do.

They NEVER reunited! But that's beside the point.

The point is BEP might be "retiring" as a group while they still on top. But I also think they will still help each other out with separate solo projects whenever necessary.

Even now, I'm very surprise Taboo has never gone solo. I can see him do some Q-Tip/A Tribe Called Quest-type of hip-hop tracks like BEPs used to do during their Pre-Fergie years.
