Any James Booker fans here? I first heard him a year ago. WOW he is just phenomenal:-D I love his crazy left hand and smooth right hand both. he's even a good vocalist too. He takes all influences classical music, stride, boogie woogie, blues, soul then make his own solid music.
I feel so sorry that he died too soon. He had so much talents

I love James Booker. I think the greatest album out there with him is the livealbum "Resurrection of the Bayou Maharajah". It's just him and the piano.Awsome stuff! /peace Manki

Thanks for starting a thread about Booker because it's been a while since I've listened to his music too.... gotta blow the dust of his records.
You could hear ragtime, blues, gospel, jazz , boogie all wrapped up in one in a Booker 8 bar /12 bar chord progression, the man was brilliant. i'm just sorry that booze and the drugs got the better of him.

I never heard of this guy before, and I swear I told myself this is a Louisiana pianist, and sure enough, what did I read when I googled him? He's from New Orleans
Something in the water they drink, those Louisiana musicians.
Great stuff! | |
