I should pick it up, I like them from what I know.
Can you believe I thought I Can't Dance was MJ when I first heard it on the radio?

Just the chorus part where it goes "I " really loudly and "can't dance" it was a few months after Black or White, I didn't know at the time they spoofed the video at the end, but loved it when I saw it later on!
Anyways their 1983 self titled album is really good, definitely get that. [Edited 11/20/11 21:20pm]

If you buy the box sets, you'll have all of their albums (except the debut). One box set contains the Peter Gabriel albums, except 1969's From Genesis To Revelation. The second box set has the late 1970's & early 1980's albums, including the final 2 with Steve Hackett. The 3rd is the mid 80's to their final album in the 1990's. I've never heard the Calling All Stations album though, which was after Phil Collins left. There is a box set containing all of their live albums and another with concerts on DVD. I don't know of any others unless they're the 2 Archive sets from the 1990's, which is demos and unreleased stuff. The album box sets contains an extra CD with B-sides, and each of the individual albums has a DVD with interviews (filmed in 2007) with members talking about the particular album and music videos or TV show footage. You can buy the albums separate, but I'd get the remastered/remixed ones from 2007-2009. If you get the separate CD's there is no B-sides disc, they only come with the box. The Peter Gabriel years box also comes in a vinyl version. This is only the original albums and no extra stuff. If you're more interested in Phil Collins, I'd start with the 1976-1982 set. 1983-1998 Box Set 5CD/5DVD
Genesis 1976-1982
Genesis Live 1973-2007 (8cd/3 DVD)
i enjoy both Collins and Gabriel, but with me being a brand new fan, as in just haveing their hits, im overwhelmed, lol

Don't be too surprised if their classic albums are nothing like most of the tracks chosen for that Greatest Hits CD.

There early stuff is my fav
But i agree the movie box set is the best!!! Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

This is a good book. It's similar to The Beatles' Anthology book in that it's all by the band members. It has lots of photos and stories about everyone that had anything to do with the group. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
