Where The Hell is Maxwell

Seems he just fell off the planet! What the hell? I mean it took him forever to come back, we bought his cd, bought his concert tickets now this shit eek. Where is he? What happened to the trilogy?

I know, his tweets are beyond annoying. Clearly it's been bumped to 2012.

I was about to start a similar thread. Prince's Welcome to America tour reminded me of the first track of the first Maxwell album, which is called Welcome, so I decided to listen to it again and started wondering the same thing.

What in hell is this? Obviously I has been bumped, but damn Black came out in 2009 you'd think he'd want to capitalize on that cd's success.

If the next record is anywhere near as good as the previous one I'll gladly wait for it for a decade. I'm still listening to BLACKsummers'night on a regular basis. It just gets better and better with repeated plays.

He's sort of missed his momentum for calling his next release the next part of an already-completed trilogy though. lol

He should just call it something else altogether. shrug

I hoped he would take another break after the trilogy........not during it. sad

In other news, he's been busy on other artists' albums.

He'll be on Young Jeezy's new album out on 12/20.

In addition to that album, he's featured on the upcoming new albums by Robin Thicke (12/6), Mary J. Blige (11/21) , and possibly Fat Joe.

Not sure if he's on these albums singing or just as a co-writer.

If he is doing next 2 NOTHING, what's it to you? Is your life so devoid that

you have to complain that a random dude, that is, Maxwell, has to be out

and about so that you are pleased? In the interim his latest album and the new one,

you now have had enough time to have mastered a new language, written a novel,

started a non profit organization to help at risk youth learn how to read English well...

Fans are so fucking annoying: he's an autonomous being who thinks it may be

more important to live his life than to worry about pleasing people who think that

because they support his random talent (the ability to sing well), he owes them

something whenever they see fit.

He doesn't owe his fans, or you or anybody in this world anything. All of you

who complained in this thread about not having any new Maxwell material really

need to go get a life!

Gawd!

He was on a roll. BLACKsummersnight was a GREAT album, and the tour was great until he quit. Would ove to have more music from him.

BTW, why did he quit? What was the official reason given? What was speculated? I went to see the tour in St. Louis, and thought Maxwell killed it. Though, honestly, Jill Scott was even better (and this is from someone who generally likes Maxwell's albums slightly more than Jill's). Was he pissed about sharing the spotlight?

I've wondered about this as well, remembering this big "trilogy" he said was already done.

I'm not losing any sleep over it, but he does seem to be wasting his big "comeback". I don't believe he had completed more than the 40 minute cd he released.

He strikes me as someone who is not terribly passionate about his career. I think if Black had come out and the response had been tepid, he'd probably have just disappeared again and who knows if he'd have ever resurfaced.

Seems he made his money once there was a good response and is now off the map again. I imagine he toured so hard to make that money so he could go back into hibernation. I guess it works for him.
