imo billy [song writer] joel's version of the song is like an evening in a nice club in s.f. you and your man are having the best wine in the house. you both take sparkley glances at each other between the lyrics and the the keyboard chords from BJ's hands. one can just feel the sincerity in BJ's voice as he sings the the song (you know) was written from his heart. you both listen to the sounds of billy's voice and let love take over.

heart

barry white adds earthiness and honey tones in his vocalization of this song. imo barry has the kind of vocal tones (as i recall) one likes to listen to after a beautiful saturday bar-b-q with friends and your man. while both of you are cruising home just after sunset, you hear barry's voice booming out of the speakers. you both just listen and let love take over.

heart

batting eyes "i like both."

wouldn't it b nice f 2day's writers and performers were as good as BJ and BW. i think nod

I always have respect for the original songwriter, which in this case is Billy but I grew up on Barry's version, and his version moved me a hell of a lot more than Billy's did. It's not even close in my opinion, it's much more lush and full of seduction and drama. Billy's sounds like a boring cabaret song.
