Such an amazing song, I started singing along the minute I clicked. Such a great and smooth voice. I wish I knew more of their songs, I'm going to buy their re-releases. One of the other reasons I connect to this song is cause of "Ghetto Love" by T Boz and Da Brat which I loved so much when it was released, but didn't know yet it was a remake UGH! I like this version way better of course.

how old are you? Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

Interesting that this group was able to get famous guests on their albums. Jose was on this one, then Stevie & Billy (and Bobby) were on the "Love Me in a Special Way" one. I think Bobby was on their first one too (same song revised lol). [Edited 11/14/11 11:42am]

Everybody and their mama thinks they can go El with this track. (To the detriment of anyone within earshot.) I must admit that even I have a hard time restraining myself at the 4:39 mark. As the sun has its place up in the sky, I love you so dearly And all the same there's no need to wonder why, I need you please hear me Brilliant melodic vocal move. Regarding the musicians, 3/4 of the original Yellowjackets (along with a slew of other super players) are on this album. No one sings like El though I used to sing and was trained, so I don't think I sounded bad though NO ONE can do it like El. I'll never forget how nice it was to see him on some award show a year or two back, I think BET awards and in Jump The Broom.

First DeBarge song I ever heard. I first seen them on my dads VHS of Motown 25. I would always just watch the Jacksons part, but one day I decided "hey, it might be some other good stuff on here too." I get to the DeBatge performance and am like, "wow, are they related to the Jacksons?"
I ask my pops who they were (as I did for everyone back then) and told me were a family group similar to the J5. And El had tha swagger to him like "yep, I'm the next yound brother that's about to blow up on the scene, watch out MJ, Lionel and Prince." PRINCE: Always and Forever

Aw that's cute LittleBLUECorvette. I wish I had Motown 25 on tape/DVD since I appreciate the others too. I really don't know much about them, but El has something so sweet and vulnerable about him from the recent interview clips I caught and I felt bad when he had to go back to rehab though I was proud of him for not letting whatever it was get worse. And I know everyone knows this song, but I always loved Rhythm of The Night so much that it almost made me emotional [Edited 11/14/11 21:18pm]

I just happen to be listening to this very song as I peruse this board. I just heard Queen Of My Heart, the vocals on that are phenomenal!

According to El at a concert I attended in Emeryville, this song was original a gospel song. When you listen to it after knowing his original intent, it becomes even more beautiful.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last....

"Time Will Reveal" was another song that was originally a gospel song. Interestingly El had written the song around 1978 before he joined Motown Records a year later but he didn't wanted to record it initially. After signing with Motown, he re-wrote and re-arranged the song and had thought of giving it to Marvin but Marvin was overseas at the time he sought him out and then by the time DeBarge released their 1981 debut, Marvin was in the process of leaving so El decided to record it with his family. It sucks that that's the only two you'll hear nowadays. Sometimes you hear "Love Me in a Special Way" or "Time Will Reveal" but it's often few and far between.
