She's forgotten how to write songs imho.

I still love her though heart

When I read comments like this about people like Kate or Prince because they don't like what they're doing I get a bit irritated. You don't forget how to write songs. It'd be like fogetting how to ride a bicycle or write a letter. You don't forget these things. After a while it becomes second nature to you. What happens is personal evolution. A desire to push yourself into new territory (who wants to repeat themselves or worse, someone else album after album)... Plus tastes change. Trying to create something new isn't easy. If an artist (truly speaking) doesn't evolve then they won't feel like they've progressed as artists. If a person has changed (grown older for example) and they don't change their art as well, then their art ceases to be representative of them.

Lenny Kravitz is someone that needs to 'forget how to write songs'.

Subjective tastes and yada yada yada..... I have to question the music tastes of anyone who thinks Kate is overrated. Sorry. She's both a genius and incredibly UNDER rated.

Sure, a few critics may act like she is literally the greatest artist of all time and maybe a few overreactions can get on some people's nerves, but you shouldn't let that put you off.

I haven't listened to all of "50 Words For Snow" yet, but I love it so far.

She's one of the Top 5 greatest female artists of all time, IMO.

yes, completely. I enjoy her quite a bit at times, in small doses, but overall, I just don't really get the hype.

Kate is practically a nobody outside the U.K so how can she be overrated?

Finnish magazines have been thrilled about her new album and already named 50 reasons to love Kate!!! She is certainly NOT nobody to us, but Finns are minority - aren't we. lol

Don't get me wrong, some of her 80s stuff is good fun, but her music post-Hounds Of Love to present day is DULL DULL DULL.

Snoore-inducing attempts at being "avant garde" masking what is essentially a pretentious songwriter with an inability to write anything with a real melody or structure. The Red Shoes was an embarassment, Aerial was pretentious as fuck and the new album sounds like one massive yawn.

It's kind of sickening watching the always predictable music critics sucking the clit of this lazy-ass, middle-class woman who's made no work of relevance in over two decades and hasn't done an honest days work since 1979.

Gosh, you are quite harsh!

KB is an artist who never does the same kind of music, listen to the albums she did, they all so different..and they are all masterpiece, that`s what I think, millions of people all over Europe think the same. You like or not, it`s just a matter of taste.

You have the right to not like her music, but saying that her recent work is dull and pretentious it`s just completely out of order...

I think Madonna is the most overrated "singer" in history of pop music but I don`t do a topic out of it! Its call respect...

Basically.

Everything is overrated depending on who you ask, so I guess therefore nothing is overrated.

A matter of taste it is.

In Spain, she is known by few people, she hasn't many followers. In other words: she is amazing, since Spain is a third-world country musically speaking.

"50 Words For Snow" may not be instantly accessable, but give it time and it will reward you tenfold.

I haven't been able to stop listening to it. A truly beautiful album.

I know it doesn't seem to be a very popular opinion, but surely I can't be the only one who loves the Elton duet? I love everything about it, the story, the music, the drama... and their voices work so well together. Hearing these two incredible artists sing on the same song is such a joy to listen to. It's definately a standout for me.

I'm weary of terms such as "overrated/underrated", espechailly here because some orgers throw them around so generously.

I personally think she deserves all the accolades she's getting, and they're not enough. Simply because she puts so much work and creativity into her music, each album has been a different listening experience, at least to me.

I consider her to be the most fascinating and original solo music artist the UK has ever produced. And in an industry still dominated by males she deserves extra points for achieving so much in every aspect of her career while marching to no-one's beat but her own.

Glad you took the time out to give her a listen. wink
