HARP-o MARKS-men (and women)

[img:$uid]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/jbodine/harmonicas.jpg[/img:$uid]

Outside of a blip in the 70s by Lee Oskar (War), 80s by Kim Wilson (The Fabulous Thunderbirds), the 90s by John Popper (Blues Traveler) and the occasional Stevie Wonder track, beyond traditional Blues you don't hear much harp in mainstream Pop music.

As rooted as the harp/harmonica is in American Blues, the instrument may have developed from a Chinese instrument called the Chen or Sheng.

My grandfather had this 45.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
