Essence - I don't see anywhere here where I said a word about hearing a DJ say "thug", so shut the fuck up and read things before you comment. Also, just because I use the word thug, does not mean that I am referring to black people. Thugs come in all colors and I am not oblivious to this.
Once again, it looks like I got to read something before it gets snipped by a moderator. Thanks.

IAM, WHY STOP AT ASHANTI?

I'd like to know why Christina Millian, Nas, and Ja Rule, are currently being touted as the best thing since mashed avocados and lemon juice on toast.

My two euros

PS: I'm picking on the above but there's really a plethora of artists who should be investigated for producing Music of Mass Destruction & Heavy Rotation.

When you got called out last time for calling D'Angelo a "thug" (without any grounds or basis) you eventually gave the following excuse:

"I didn't label him that, the media did. I heard the term used on a local radio station soon after his arrest."

Then...

"The BLACK dj on the BLACK radio station (wblk) made the comment about D turning into a thug and called him a thug lover. I guess the BLACK dj is just not BLACK enough for some of you."

Like I said on another thread, why Nas is getting grouped together with jokers like Ja Rule and Nelly these days I don't know, "Illmatic" is arguably an all time top five hip-hop classic and he has been arguably the most influential MC of all time, everyone came through biting his style.

Give it a rest Essence. In my thread from many weeks back, I was only reiterating what the media had said about D'Angleo. I am a huge fan of D's and I do not consider him to be a thug at all. I was merely pointing out that there are black dj's who are labelling black artists as thugs. I guess I was not clear enough about that. And if you do not think I am right about Murder Inc., just keep your eyes on the news and we will all see what comes of that.

None of those artists are true hardcore R&B or Hip-Hop it's more like a pop version of those two music genres. And although none can take them seriously it can be fun you know. And it's certainly appealing to the younger or more pop-oriented crowd out there. Now i don't know much about those artists I heard only some of the singles. I think Ashanti is good only when she teams up with Ja Rule. Ja Rule can do both great and disastrous pop/rap records ("Thug Lovin" and his Ashanti duets were excellent, he also fixed "Ain't It Funny" for J.Lo but couldn't help with the horrid I'm Real) I actually did enjoy though all the Christina Millian singles besides that one with the "real love" sample and the song she wrote for J.Lo "Play" is by far the absolutely best song J.Lo did.So I have a bit of respect for Christina. I don't think that anyone is taking those artists seriously but they're good pop artists. In a similar way i bought last year Samantha Mumba's album (that's the irish Ashanti in a way) and although it's very "light" i did enjoy it very much. So I guess this kind of music is good to be around. I would be more wondered on why J.Lo and Britney are considered so big

WELL PUT, YIORYOS

I was needling those artists because they're among a certain clique which dominate my radio and television screen. As you correctly said, there are other performers who could do with lessened exposure.
