I don't like this remix. I wasn't aware af it until the 1990's when I bought some slow jams compilation. I had the album (Gap IV) when it first came out and that was the only one I knew.

MJSCAROUSAL - at work and cannot listen to the remix right now, but thanks for the excellent post reminding us of this gem ... I have loved this song from jump in 1982. Charlie blew it out the water when I saw him in Detroit two years ago. "...Standing on the Top."

This is where my youngin ness comes in lol wasnt aware their were two versions... is this the other version your talking about? If so... I still enjoy both. The mix one though just makes me wanna get up and dance! The beat is crazy lol

^^Yeah, that's the album version. The 12" versions of other tracks from the same album are good though like Early In The Morning & You Dropped A Bomb On Me. My friend told me he had never heard the original version of Outstanding either (until I played it for him a few years ago) and only knew the remix. I was the opposite. lol
