I'm just going to post the first things I think of, in no special order.

Wow! I do not know half the songs from your list.
I need further musical education. boxed

A lot of the songs I heard growing up, I've never heard on the radio or on TV. So I guess they were "jukebox hits" and stuff my relatives played.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

You blaspheme in the name of Tori!!! lol

You asked me and I answered honestly. lol
I'm sorry.
The main thing that you like her and let the whole world is gone off the wall .... wink

I hear you. I never liked Tori Amos either.

That aside, how do you guys figure out your Top 40 songs? Do you go by how often you listen to them or by an immense positive feeling/emotion that you have towards the song? There are songs that I really like, but I don't always listen to them. Sometimes I have to be in the mood. Other times there are songs that I listen to quite often, but they may not, exactly, be my favorite(s).

How do you decide?

Well, this is not a matter of life and death. lol

I chose from the great songs are simply the most time-tested to me. The songs that I loved a year ago, love right now and I am sure I will love these songs after 10 ... 20 ... 30 years too. The list varies, but one thing is constant: I adore every song from my list.

Impossible for me to do.

But Prince, MJ, Janet, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Zapp, Cameo, Stevie, 2Pac, Rick Springfield, Guns N' Roses, Jesse Johnson, DMX, Dr. Dre, Kate Bush, The Cure, The Jacksons, Nas, Queen, The Time, The System, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Marilyn Manson and Terence Trent D'Arby would all have at least one song in there. Prince would probably have at least 5 actually, lol.
