hmmm, noble effort, yes, but when I listen to Britney I just want jams, jams and jams. I don't despise her ballads, but hell I prefer the upbeat dance numbers

It's more than just a ballad, it's Britney's ballad to end all ballads--her "Purple Rain", her "Wild Horses", her "One". The fact that it isn't recognized as such is a travesty.

Basically everyone. I will always have a "hard copy" of my music when possible.

But, there are instances when I don't get the actual album - (1) the album sucks except for one or two songs, (2) a physical album is not available or too expensive. But, if I'm downloading what I consider "valuable" tracks and not buying the actual album, I'll back up those tracks on a CD-R.

I also like having CDs beause of their very often better sound quality for when I'm playing music on a "real" music system, not an MP3 player.

But, to be honest, much of my physical music collection sits around a lot of the time, becuase I do use my MP3 player a lot. But, I'd never give up the CDs.

Britney and Janet sound nothing alike, and sing differently from one another.

For me, its:

Michael Jackson

Jackson 5/Jacksons

Janet

Madonna (just missing the soundtracks)

Mariah Carey, though I haven't bought an album since e=mc 2

I'm guilty with Justin Timberlake though he is not a favourite artist of mine, I bought the albums for Timbaland.

TLC comes close, I don't have 3D, but have the others.

All.

The ones I'm a fan of, the ones I don't know but after reading some review I think will be great...

All.

I don't own an ipod, I don't listen to Youtube, I don't download.

I live in a museum... and I'm OK!

Darn your sarcasm! I thought that I had finally found someone who shared my love of "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman!" Someday the world will appreciate it for the masterpiece that it is.hmph!

uhmm actually all albums I own are physical. if it's just bits & bytes on a flash or HDD then it ain't an album

I never downloaded one single shitty MP3 track online and don't plan to change that lol

I do use iTunes and have the iPhone packed with my own ripped music though. nice gadget when you're in the garden on the beach or something, but at home or in the car it's CDs (or vinyl) only hmph!

At this point in my life, most of the must I purcahse is via digital download. My physical material(8,000 records, Cd's and tapes) I've given to my daughter. All of my music is on a media server. I still purchase some special edtion, remastered, Album/Cd box sets but those are ripped to my server too and I pass the hard copy to my kid.

As far as the sound quality MP3's vs CD, the degradation is so subtle, it's not noticeable. This is a urban legion that's been repeated so much it's taken as fact. If you have a crappy music system Cd's, records, MP3's or tapes are going to sound crappy. The reverse applies.....

I suppose if I was forced at gunpoint to listen to three Britney songs, it would be one of the three. smile

Brittany shouldn't even be in the same sentence with Janet Jackson. Or did Brittany have 7 top 5's off of one album and I just missed it somehow? biggrin Maybe it's that I grew up with Janet and I was a grown lady when Brittany became a star.

MJ, Prince, 2Pac, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Guns N Roses and a few more.

If I really want a specific album I'll buy the physical CD still.

Even after I compared the song to Purple Rain, Wild Horses and One? Do I look like musicjunky318?

yeah, I thought you meant that I'm Not a Girl is a very strong pop/acoustic ballad with deep lyrics about "growin' up to be a woman", lol

If it's something I REALLY want and it's from an artist I admire greatly, then I must go for the full experience; I want the actual CD in hand so I can get into the liner notes & such. Hate when it comes in one of those eco-packs like the latest Bernie Worrell CD I purchased "All The Woo In The World" (...although I'm super-jazzed to have this CD). When it arrives in the mail (because I rarely purchase CD's in a "brick & mortar" store anymore), upon opening (and without physically touching the surface) I immediately pop it in my computer and rip FLAC's from it, then carefully place it back in the jewel case and store it away, then only listen to the files on various devices.

Music by artists that I just want to "hear", I'm more likely to obtain the digital version from the Internet. Then in the event that I find I actually LIKE the digital download, I'll actually go ahead and purchase the physical CD because that's the format I prefer to have in my collection (...or vinyl). Hard drives can crash, but nothing short of fire or theft (...or death, lol) will separate me from my physical albums. Also, even though lossless files sound very close to the actual CD, CD's still sound the best.
