Jessie J draws comparisons to Katy Perry, gets shade from LA Reid during X Factor performance

Jessie J, one of UK's newest international pop stars, performed her new hit "Domino" on the US version of X-Factor last night. She came out looking very much like Katy Perry with the colorful wig and outfit, and heck, even the upbeat song sounds like something Katy would sing. Jessie was an opening act on Katy's tour, so it shouldn't be a surprise if some of Katy's style/influence rubbed off on her.

Jessie, while not as pretty as Katy, has a significantly better voice.

The crowd was into her performance, and gave her a nice reaction after she finished. Judges Paula, Nicole and Simon gave her a standing ovation, while judge #4, LA Reid, stayed in his seat and just took a drink of his pepsi lol Earlier in the show, when Willow Smith performed, La Reid stood up with the rest of the judges to applaud and warmly smile.

Interesting to note that earlier this year, Jessie J claimed that when she first came to the US a few years ago and was fielding offers from various big labels, La Reid so badly wanted to sign her that he locked her in a room and wouldn't let her leave for a while. She eventually turned him down, and based on his reaction last night, it looks like he's still bitter about it (if what Jessie J claims is true).

I can't think of a single moment LA hasn't come off as a total asshole.

Either way I really dig this song alot more than most of her first album material. She has huge potential!

That's why he's a record exec. All of the big boys are assholes in some way (Simon included).

Actually Claude Kelly who helped produced the song said that 'domino' was inspired by Whitney Houston song, either he said, 'i wanna dance with somebody' or 'how will i know' but he tweeted several times about that and Jesse J is a huge whitney fan.

L.A Reid is a jerk

I'm sorry, but I laughed. LA Reid is hilarious to me.

I'm not familiar with Jessie J, but I can see why she's getting Katy Perry comparisons. Her voice is okay, but I don't see how it's "significantly better" than Katy's.

I'd be throwing shade too. everytime I've seen that chick on it's been some random wailing over some hookless track. she's boring as hell.

I think she's a pretty talented songwriter - she wrote "party in the usa" - it's a great pop song - it doesn't matter who sung it smile

But Jessie J as a solo performer ummmm i dunno i'm not feeling her for some reason.

Jessie J will sing circles around Katy Perry. I'm not saying Katy can't sing; just that Jessie really is significantly better than her.

L.A. Reid is an asshole. Everybody in the industry knows that.

Actually been playing this song for the past two months and the similarities to Katy Perry are undeniable. Its a good song and she is a talented singer who I think has really about the same ability as Katy Perry.

LA Reid is just disrespectful and has a major stick up his arse! wink

I guess FOX knew what they were doing with hiring LA Reid though, as he really does say whatever he feels like saying lol He's also said that he never heard of "Ain't No Other Man" by Christina Aguilera (after a male group covered it for their solo performance). I think a lot of the fans are also enjoying LA and Simon Cowell dissing each other constantly during the show lol

Jessie J graduated from in the same class as Leona Lewis and Adele at some prestigious performing arts school in the UK. I think Jessie has some talent, but it does seem she hasn't quite found her own identity yet as an artist. btw here's a pic of Katy and Jessie on Katy's tour:

She's been around for a while honing her craft, before anyone knew who Katy Perry was so apart from image which is totally studio manufactured on both of their parts (when I saw Jessie perform in 2008 she was very plain and just all about the songs and voice), I don't see the similarity.

Katy Perry ain't got shit on Jessie J and quite frankly Domino is a step below what this girl can really do. Ugh....LA Reid sitting there with the puss face on was so not cool...but to each its own.
I saw that diss and was like "This motherfucker" mad
I like some of KP's songs for it's sugary quality, but no way would I want to see her live....actually was quite disappointed that Jessie didn't do more shows on her own like in the beginning of this year. I would like to see her alone. I love her, the style, and the voice.....but that is me...no hate on KP.
