Mariah's version of I'll be There
The Jackson 5 version will always be memorable, but I think Mariah did a great job

love the version from VH1's Save the Music a few years back:
"what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

I think she did a great job with it. One of my all time favorite covers.

It's great
I like it way better than the jackson's
To hear a kid sing about love in such a way makes no sense

The song was originally gonna be a socially conscious song but Berry decided against it. The lyric "you and I must make a pact/we must bring salvation back" hence why the lyrics could've been about brotherhood than a love story. Berry felt a group of kids doing those type of songs was too mature for them.

As for Mariah's version, I liked it but I don't know, I can't stand to hear her version now, I don't know why.
"Just look over your shoulders, honey!"

mariah def made it her own for sure. Even when people re-sing this song, usually the re-sing the Mariah arrangement. Especially when they get to the third verse with Trey hitting that high note. The falcetto makes me want to listen to this version only just because I know that part is coming. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Sad, but true. I have almost every Mariah album, and though I would have paid to see her in 2006, I would not even consider it now.

Eh, it's OK, but the original is a billion times better. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Yep. She turned a Motown classic into a glee club performance.

Mariah's voice hasn't been the same for a very long time.
The Mariah from the 1990s vocally is much different than now.
She has exhausted her vocal cords- and think there was some damage that occurred.
This happens to many singers.

I don't like it
Mariah is an amazing singer, but she's never been good at covering songs.Every remake that I heard from her is lackluster.I prefer Brenda K. Starr's original version of "I Still Believe" over Mariah's lame remake, and the same goes for the Jackson 5 classic.

And don't get me started on "Without You". Badfinger's original and Nilsson's remarkable cover (which is the version Mariah covered) outpowers her lol
