Just unbelievable. The guy appeared to be a perfect picture of good health.

It makes you put life in perspective. We could be here today and

gone tomorrow. Heavy just seemed like a cool dude anyone could talk to.

It's possible. Uptown help nourished Mary J. and Heavy D was definitely a part of her development.

I still jam off of the Nuttin but love album. The Got me waiting remix is the business.

I always liked Heavy's vibe, so smooth, so much fun.

God rest his soul.

Keep It COmin

And I found him very handsome. Not usually my style, but he was a cutie. He was adorable as Regine's man on Living Single.

Just saw touching tweets from Questlove, Jazzy Jeff and Q Tip.

Thanks for posting "Just Coolin'" that is MY SHIT as far as Heavy D. verses go.

I am speechless. Heavy D. was the man.

I can remember sitting up late at night after being out partying watching the Self-Destruction video for the very first time on some late night video channel in LA over my homeboy's Moms crib. Remember the first time I saw it like it was yesterday. EVERYBODY was dope but Heavy D's verse was the best one.

I think I saw Heavy D. on the Budweiser Superfest in 1991 at the L.A. Coliseum but I cannot remember all who was on the bill...BUT what I DO remember FOR SURE is that somewhere around April of 1988 I heard "Don't You Know" by Heavy D. on KISS-FM in New York City RIGHT BEFORE I heard "It Takes Two" by Rob Base for the VERY FIRST TIME. I shall NEVER forget that Sunday evening as long as I live. It tripped me out hearing Heavy D. doing a ballad, and then hearing what will always be to me one of the greatest hip-hop records EVER for the first time. Just as he introduced the world to "In Living Color" every weekend, he introduced me to "It Takes Two."

Heavy you were an INTEGRAL part of arguably the most important musical wave ever.

You opened every Sunday the greatest television show of all of time. I hope you they gave you an Emmy somewhere along the way - you surely deserved it.

Love you brother - see you on the other side!
