Mazzy Star - New songs and album news for 2012

MAZZY STAR IS BACK AFTER 15 YEARS!

Mazzy Star will return with their first release since 1996! Hope Sandoval and David Roback have reunited and will release two new songs on October 31st. "Common Burn" and "Lay Myself Down" will be released digitally on Mazzy Star's own label Rhymes Of An Hour Records. There will also be a limited edition 7" vinyl of these two tracks released in November.

Common Burn / Lay Myself Down

This release will most likely be followed by a tour and a new full length album in 2012.

Listen to the songs here..

Unbelievable, yet entirely predictable that no one is interested in this.

Your loss. wink

I'm interested. I've been following this group since when they were intially known as Opal. Common Burn sounds like classic Mazzy Star, while the B-side is a nice Country tinged lament. Beautiful. Thanks for the heads up. Btw, I wanted to start a thread about the upcoming This Mortal Coil box set, but I'm thinking it might get the same indifference here lol

Nice! I have Mazzy Star's three albums as well as Hope's two solo releases so I'm very interested in this. Each Mazzy Star release got slower and more sparse it seemed to me. The back cover of the final album with the blue-tinted photo of the open umbrella captured their sound perfectly.

I saw Hope live last year and the one thing I remembered about the gig was that she was angry. lol

I saw Mazzy Star around 1990 when they opened for the Cocteau Twins. I remembered someone in the crowd was heckling her and she just austerely walked to the microphone and said "SHUT UP!" lol

She hasn't changed much in 20 years then. lol She did not tolerate the audience not giving her its undivided attention.

I have a Mazzy Star bootleg somewhere and someone in the audience shouts "I love you Hope." She replies by saying, "I don't want you to love me, I want you to shut the fuck up." lol

And she was in the dark right? or at least dim lights?

If you will, so will I

Did I say that after the show? I don't remember.
