Anything happening with Maxwell's next release? I didn't see an active Maxwell thread on which to post this question. It crossed my mind that Black Summers Night came out two years ago. Do folks know what/if anything he is doing on the next installation or has it been scrapped? [Edited 9/8/11 20:32pm]

I believe it's supposed to be released by the winter of this year. Weird time to release the album, but oh well! Maybe he and Sony are pushing for big Christmas sales. Check me out and add me on:

It seems like he's really wasted his "comeback" momentum. I wonder if anyone will even be checking for the follow up? Guess we will see.

Yeah that's something I've been thinking of as well. That VH1 Storytellers episode gave him a little push, but I don't know how it's gonna look for Maxwell second time around when this follow up drops (if it ever drops). Check me out and add me on:

Maybe it just isn't good enough to his ears. They worked a long time on the "first part of the trilogy" and you can hear that too. He described the upcoming record as "futuristic gospel" so there's always a possibility that the record company wants something more commercial too.

I really don't know anything about the music industry in this respect. Wouldn't his label want to strike while the iron was hot, even with a so-so (if thats the case) release? There are acts who put out so-so to mediocre records every year at the urging of their labels right? Not that this is ideal, but I guess my wonder is when is, I guess "enough enough?" and who makes the call-the artist/the label?
It just seems weird, he did tons of touring, "comeback album" wins awards, sells well. He markets a "trilogy" that is supposedly already finished. And nearly 3 years later-nada. Not even a single. Seems strange.
Im not losing any sleep over it, I just find it interesting how some different artists manage their output and careers.

If you check his twitter this last week I believe he says something about a summers listening session or party last week. "tonight ur a Star and I'm the Big dipper"
