Madonna signs with Interscope

Heh.

I get the feeling someone else on that label is probably sending texts to Jimmy Iovine wanting an explanation of what's going on...

When Madonna recored her cover of "Santa Baby" for the 1987 charity album "A Very Special Christmas" in 1987, her version of the popular hit was produced by Jimmy Iovine.

Today, Iovine is chairman of Interscope-Geffen-A&M, a Los Angeles based umbrella label owned by Universal Music Group.

And guess what's the label for which Madonna has signed an exclusive deal - to be officially announced very soon - for her 2012 album? Interscope, of course.

Nice re-encounter, isn't it?

according to a facebook message by William Orbit, the new Madonna album is all finished and ready to be mastered...

From William Orbit's Facebook -

I’m at the Virgin Atlantic lounge at JFK. Ready to crash right out on my night flight to London. On a bed. Feels like a heck of a lot has been achieved. Wish I could say more but you know, mums’s the word. For now. Won’t be long and all will be revealed. And more than just the specific project that has got a lot of you buzzing.
I’ll be honest, am feeling a little burnt out tonight. After these intense weeks. But I’ll be right back on it after a couple of good night’s sleep and a few bevvies with friends + family at the Groucho.
Looking forward to rotating back to the real world. It’s rather an unreal life bubble. Recording Studios, edit suites, hotels, airports, plane cabins, car services. All running 24 hours. As if the cycle of day and night did not exist. Soon I’ll take a step out into the wild natural world and feel the season. Breathe the winter air and absorb the silence (and not the absolute silence of the studio, but the silence of the animal kingdom, dreaming).
But MSR has been great studio to work in. Situated in a side street just off the bright lights of Times square. A nondescript door above a dilapidated music shop that opens onto a warren of studios, coridors and unused spaces. Three old buildings welded together in the heart of mid-town Manhattan, only half of the space being used (stumbled into an derelict strip club the other day when I was exploring the building) Working through the night. Bass pounding at times enough to lift the chair off the floor. Or total silence apart from the clicking of computer keys.
Am being a bit rambling now as I sit here, with a couple of beers, and a Jameson, with Alan, my trusty PA and good friend, looking forward to getting back home. He’s sorted out the shipping, freight, paperwork, transportation, in conjunction with AAM, and I’m in zombie mode. Him too, really, as our mission for the moment is done., We’re’ghost’ as our engineer, Demo, put it. ‘Thousand yard stare’. But feeling like that we’ve part of a special moment in all of our careers. Including M’s. Who, I have to say has amazed me anew in unexpected ways during the last few months.
It was great earlier tonight to head downtown and see all the wonderful folk at my management company (AAM). Andy Kipnes (my manager) and Ross Donadio also discussed with me my new Strange Cargo album which is all but finished. And some other song projects that I will pick up one once M’s and my new album are mastered at the end of this month
So over and out now for a while. Offline for a couple of days.
Btw. Who’s going to be in Las Vegas at New Years?
I’ve booked the Studio at Palms Casino, Las Vegas again this year. Witrh Jean Baptiste, Priscilla Renea, Swedish House Mafia, and other friends and songwriting pals. For a week of partying and writing. Just like the week we had last new-years, which kicked everything off. They’re calling my flight now
See you all again soon!
W

Madonna on Interscope

Madonna is set to release a new album in 2012, but since she is signed to LiveNation in one of their 360 deals, and LiveNation isn't technically a record company yet, they tend to outsource the actual release of an album and then take the touring part upon themselves, they needed to find a label to release the record.

Today, it has been announced Interscope Records will be the label releasing and promoting the album, in a joint venture with LiveNation.

Cool. Live Nation was the first thing that came to mind. I was wondering what happened to that big 360 deal. She'll have all the marketing and promotions in the world! Literally.

Just let me hear the music....

Madonna and Iconix Develop Second Brand Under The MG Icon Partnership

NEW YORK, Nov. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — MG Icon, the joint venture among Iconix Brand Group (NASDAQ:ICON), Madonna and Guy Oseary announced today the launch of Truth or Dare by Madonna, the second brand to launch under the MG Icon venture. Truth or Dare by Madonna will be a global lifestyle brand. The brand will initially launch with footwear, handbags, intimates, accessories and fragrance. MG Icon will exclusively partner with Macy’s for the initial launch in 2012 while launching simultaneously worldwide. In 2013, the brand will be widely distributed at leading department stores in the United States.

“The interest and excitement globally for brands developed by Madonna are significant,”
stated Neil Cole, CEO, Iconix Brand Group, Inc. “After the highly successful launch of the junior brand, Material Girl, we knew there would be a tremendous demand for a brand that Madonna herself is the face of and that truly captures her essence.”

damn, this new era is moving quickly! Tickets for the 2012 tour could go on sale next month eek

Tour tickets could be on sale next month
The latest rumoured date for the 2012 comes again from the German press, with reports of a concert between the end of June and the beginning of July at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne.
The interesting bit in the article mentions a tour announcement from Live Nation coming up in the next few weeks with tickets going on sale in the month of December.

On this subject, MadonnaTribe has learnt and can exclusively report that Live Nation is actually working on a plan where tour tickets could be on sale before Christmas.

Furthermore, MadonnaTribe understands that the tour is currently scheduled to visit Europe, North America, South East Asia and also stop Down Under.

An official announcement is certainly close, and it's certainly time to get more and more excited about what's coming up from the Queen of Pop in the very next future. And yes, start saving, too!

Buzz from Universal is that she has a masterful dance pop album on her hands. They are going to promote it like nobody's business. I'm expecting two # 1 singles off this album. It's very modern and VERY dance from what my guy at UMG said- but done only as Madonna can do.

from madonnarama.com:

We already revealed the first producers that are working on Madonna’s upcoming album: William Orbit and Martin Solveig. Another producer we can add on that list is none other than Benny Benassi.

Madonna and Benny Benassi are again working together for the upcoming 2012 album and we at Madonnarama can reveal the title of the track: “Girls Gone Wild“.

The song has already been recorded and is, for sure, going to be a huge dance track and possibly be released as one of the singles from the forthcoming album.

In 2009, Benny Benassi remixed Madonna’s single Celebration, but this wasn’t the first time they collaborated. Back in 2003, Benny Benassi also remixed the song “American Life”, but it never got approved and remains unreleased.

Stay tuned for more exclusive info on Madonna’s upcoming album…
