Classic. The album version imo always has the others beat. The production is loud and demanding and doesn't refrain from being funky. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

LOVE that song, I always thought they sounded similar too and knew it was a Jam & Lewis production.

Totally co-sign this sentiment For me the remixes were cool but they kind of took the edge and sense of urgency off. She sounded great too. Classic indeed!

The original is the best I agree, but I went crazy when the remixes came out. The harmonies were altered a bit, and the beat was updated and dancy for 1991. What a shame it wasn't released....she would have broken MJ's record She's the one person I would have cheered on for it

Yeah, this was one of my favorites from that record. It was amazing to me at the time that this song was released to radio in 1991, about two years after the album's release. She was eight singles deep at that point. I think it was only released to radio but not for (sales) commercial release in the States. My memory could be off though. [Edited 11/2/11 6:49am]

I can't tell you either since I didn't know about her though I knew about michael and others, when in 1991 was it released? I know the single cover is from Love Would Never Do Without You and had it been released commercially, people would have bought it for sure. My LP single has no cover, just a sleeve, and the other side of it has a non Janet song with remixes though I can't recall which one(I found it at a vinyl store 10 years ago at most). Did it get a lot of airplay like a proper single or something? If so, I wish it at least had a video the way Got Till It's Gone or Go Deep did, those didn't chart. [Edited 11/2/11 6:55am]

According to a couple of sites, it was released in Feb. 1991. I don't remember hearing it a lot on the radio back then. I don't recall seeing the single in stores either, maybe the single became a import item if it wasn't directly sold in US stores like the other singles. I used to love going to Best Buy and finding imported CD's that wasn't originally released here. I too wanted a video, but by this time for me I was craving anything by Miss Jackson.
Here's another question why wasn't it pushed as the other singles? Were A&M RN fatigued by then and figured hey, let's end on a high note with LWNDWY?

I love import singles, HMV here always sold imports and commercial ones so it was easy to find those from the Velvet Rope era and onwards, and sometimes if I went back and saw older ones like from the janet. and DOAD era, I snapped them up. I can see State of the World being sold like that, it's possible. I never found the single for You here though, so maybe it wasn't sold in North America
One thing I noticed with the final Janet video of an era was that it would be a cliffhanger for the next era. Pleasure Principle IMO was solo Janet. doing edgy moves with an amazing hairstyle that just had you wanting more, and then she hit with RN. LWNDWY showed her as really sexy and playful with confidence and following that was the janet. album, maybe they felt State of the World would be a step backwards and she did all that in 1989 when first launching the album. I used to say she should have included that as part of the RN 1814 video, Black Cat in that was so random.

Never knew remixes existed for this song....WOW one of my favs from Janet Jackson, one of her more obscure jams I LOVE!!!!

Not that I wasnt never a Janet fan(because always have mostly of her pre All 4 You material) but lately I have listened more and more to her material than I have in a long time and Ive come to the conclusion that Janet is majorly underrated at least right now anyway as female entertainers/material is concerned.

Yeah she truly is, even with some of the recent stuff. I watched the Feedback video after so long the other day, and though I liked it when it came out though the song is better, it felt so "meh" then and now it looks like everyone is doing that type of video, people like Lady Gaga. I know it's always been like that with Janet and it's still continuing, but she doesn't get enough credit for it.

Unfortunately, that tend to happen when you don't have a hit record in a while. If she produces another big hit, everyone will be riding her clit again. Trust me

I would love to hear a new album from her, but maybe she's avoiding it and I can't blame her considering what she's been through, so I'm not really waiting around for one though I'm nuts about her. I think she should develop the acting and continue on with it, and do a soundtrack song or two for it once in awhile to keep her name out there.

I was away at university in 1991 and I remember hearing one of the 7" remixes get airplay on the local R&B station. I saw the promo 12" at a DJ store around that time and that was the only instance of seeing a copy of the single for sale until I found the Japanese import maxi CD later.

I knew a single existed cause of fansites, but randomly found it out of nowhere one day when record shopping and was ecstatic.

I don't think she's avoiding it. I think she's learned her lessons about rushing out music when she isn't really ready or INSPIRED. Imagine the emotions she could pull from now...considering her last few years. And not just losing a brother either. She's got plenty of inspiration to mine.
In my opinion, 20 Y.O. was JD's baby. I always thought that he was more excited and inspired about that project than she was. Same with Discipline, that was L.A.'s project. Maybe she should stay away from producers whose known by initials? Not saying that either project didn't have its gems. I mean, Take Care and Enjoy are worthy songs in her catalog. Fits perfectly.

"Can't give up hope now, let's weather the storm together..."
This was a radio-only single, but, had it been released commercially, it more than likely would have been an 8th top 5 Hot 100 for the RN album. Great performance of this track from the RN Tour

And this is what seperates artists from pop stars in my opinion. She is at a new point right now and I am glad she has taken a few pages out of her brothers book. Contrary to popular belief that whole rushing or constant work shit is not really good especially when your rushing generic unspired hits of today out. I cant wait for the next album and I think alot of people are curious to see what Janets got as well... anticipation folks and taking the time to work on a crafted piece of art is key..
