Nice. cool

I like it. Then again, I liked the last few releases as well. If you liked the last few you'll like this, if you didn't, maybe not I dunno. I'm enjoying it.

Bjork, Radiohead (remix), O7ven and now this. A lot of cool releases lately. Imo.

Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

I'll always buy her stuff but the last album, for which I can't even recall the title, it just sounds so slow. I loved the spoken word stuff from way back and even the rocky work she did earlier on.

But sheesh.....lively up, Meshell! I still got ya back tho.

I won't say that I'm not digging this, but Me'Shell needs to get back to basics. The sound of this album really reverts to the sound of Bitter and Devil's Halo. Some cuts sound cool, others bored me immensely. One of the cuts gave me a John Lennon Imagine-era feel and it sound be a single.

It's alright but it's slow as hell. And you can tell she's trying really hard to be experimental.

Listening right now.. I've liked every song heard so far.

It's definitely progression; the next step in a line of unified work. This isn't completely out of left field.

I will say that it's not an immediate collection of music. It will require extra listening, but that's not surprising. Everything post- Dance of the Infidel took time to understand, be acquainted with and eventually love. At least for me.

I love "Oysters".

Her lyrics are have become more ambiguous which is intriguing. She's still talking about the same things (and some new ones) but seems not to come from an angle of confrontation. More reflection and observation.

"Rapid Fire" is really, really.. I need a lyric sheet. I'm very excited for this album. smile

This and Devil's Halo really remind of Chocolate Genius, no? There's a commonality in the work. Maybe the ambiguity?

I definitely agree with you there, regarding Me'Shell's output post-Dance of the Infidel. Her work has become so challenging and more experimental that it took a lot of listens to understand it. I noticed some strains when Comfort Woman came out and now I love that one, as well as The World Has Made Me the Man of My Dreams.

I actually find this album somewhat less experimental and on the surface more accessible.

But I agree, her lyrics are becoming more ambiguous, which is a plus imho. Perhaps she's focusing more on the words now than before. Hence, the Leonard Cohen song. Nevertheless, the care she gives to the music, the complexity of the instrumentation, is still there.

I love it.

This a def a grower and also very much in the vein of Devil's Halo. That said, I'm enjoying it. Then again, I like Devil's Halo quite a bit. I can understand why some might not get into this though. It's not for everyone. Imo.

But if you've folllowed Meshell thus far, you kinda know what your getting into.

I'm down. cool

Sorry to hear that Gray. What 2 songs do you like? Also, did you like Devil's Halo at all? Just curious.

The last track and the 1st single I dig. The rest will have 2 grow on me.

I really only like the cover song of Ready 4 the World from Devil's Halo.

The last two is a major shift from The World Has Made me the Man of my Dreams.

I really loved that one.

You mean the title of the album right? There's no title song.

And to your question, I think more Jazz than country.cool

Well the streaming song was titled Weather. I thought that was the cd's title as well? Either way the music sounded like her attempt at country, the vocal not so much, more jazz as you stated. The second song was also very interesting. This is going to be a nice release imo. I was kind of meh with her last two for some reason. I felt that the music was great but the production was lacking (if thats possible), because it always felt like everything was mixed low and into each other. These songs that are streamng now?: they have bottom etc to them and a "fullness/richeness" to them.

Listening now. It's fair so far. Have to say I'm finding it darned tough to get past Rapid Fire's groove, though.

I am LOVING it. It's elegant, sultry, heartfelt, tender and tough. Her releases are always such crafty treasures. I wish our guy would take the time to really produce fully conceived records like Meshell.

Sat down tonight a gave a proper listen with a proper drink and no distractions.

Very engaging in a sublime kind of way. Empahsis is on song, mood and texture.

This is very chill stuff overall but heavy at times in a serene kind of way.Her most reflective yet. Another great album in a long line of great work. cool
