Britney Spears in the Baby One More Time Album While she's not some singing genius, I was listening to Baby One More Time just recently.
She sang the songs on there with a lot of passion.
It sad to see that we don't get to see this side of Britney's singing anymore.

Used to have the album then, lost it though. Though I knew she a janet rip off, her singing was decent on that album. Though the nexxt album had better songs, her voice got really weak, I think maybe it was from smoking, oversinging catching up to her, or being told to dumb down her voice.

It wasn't a great voice, it was better than what she does now. No one called her a brilliant artist, she was like a female backstreet boy if anything.

Whether she was a better singer then as opposed to now, I can't help but think means very little. Her singing voice was has always been what I would describe as frankly "UGLY". From her first hit to her most recent, she's consistantly sounded like a frog. And her music has always been bad/cheesy. I can forgive bad music, but a good voice...or even a bad voice, if the music is good...but Britney has both, so as far as I'm concerned she's got no redeemable qualities andis worthy of being gonged.

LMAO! I also used to call her a frog. I give her writer's credit sometimes, but her voice gets in the way most of the time and spoils the occasional good song. And I don't respect her or what she stands for.
And sadly, she did have a song of that name and put her email address in her first album booklet [Edited 10/29/11 23:23pm]

Like I mentioned, she's not some singing genius.
You don't see her performing like this anymore.
She sounds like a robot now in her music.
I guess when people are starting off- they really put in their best effort, but once they are safe and secure they stop trying hard to perform.
This doesn't apply with every artist, but with some of the people who have progressively went downhill music wise with their careers, but started off on decent note.
People get sad that she doesn't perform the way she used to in terms of dancing, but its sad that when you look at her current vocal state compared to the first two albums. [Edited 10/29/11 23:38pm]

Her vocal quality went down since the first album, her dancing went down after In the Zone. I'm saying this objectively. I'm not a fan of her, but it was hard not to hear about her in passing over the years, and I consider myself a Britney critic though if she has the occasional okay song, I'll admit it. And besides, I don't think she was great at singing or dancing, but she used to enjoy what she does, and I have not seen this from her at all since she had kids. I think the industry really burnt her out as a person.
