Q Mag Presents: Achtung Baby Covers Album [img:$uid]http://i.imgur.com/0R5K4.jpg[/img:$uid]
October 13, 2011
U2’s Achtung Baby has been covered by artists including The Killers, Jack White, Depeche Mode, Snow Patrol, Nine Inch Nails and Patti Smith in commemoration of the landmark album’s 20th anniversary.
The collection, titled AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered, is the brainchild of Q Magazine. It also marks the magazine’s 25th anniversary. Q Editor in Chief Paul Rees says the album sets a new standard for the growing trend of free unique CDs bundled with magazines, pointing out that it features the first new material heard by several acts – The Killers, Damien Rice and Garbage – in years. “‘This is an entirely appropriate way to mark Q’s anniversary and that of Achtung Baby, one of the pivotal albums in our lifetime,” Rees said.
The magazine/CD package will be available starting October 26.

'Tis blasphemous. That is their best album and one of the best recording albums of all time.
Just leave it alone. | |

The Garbage cover is the only one that looks interesting. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

I agree. And how is a remix...a cover? Snow Patrol covering "Mysterious Ways". Snooze button!

Oh man, i'm looking forward to the remaster which is due out in a week or so, i just hope they haven't compressed the sound too much, but this album i'm staying away from. I learnt too avoid these cover albums after i heard that monstrosity "She Will Have Her Way: The songs of Neil & Tim Finn", that album actually somehow took something away from the originals!, Never again! [Edited 10/15/11 16:15pm] We're here, might as well get into it.

Im not even interested in the Depeche Mode track, thats how off this covers record is, but then again its rare to get a good covers album "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

The majority of it will probably be quite forgettable, but I can't wait to listen to Gavin Friday's cover of "The Fly". That will be interesting.

Not all covers are bad. Some are much better than the original.
